What a nice recognition for your DS @carolinamom2boys !
@Waiting2exhale and @bookmom7 He truly respected and admired her and was so sorry that he would not be able to have her as a teacher when she left. She was a very sweet woman who took every opportunity to tell me and my son how special my son was , and for that I am truly grateful.
Congratulations to your son on his impressive accomplishments, @carolinamom2boys. That science honor is especially meaningful.
@carolinamom2boys sounds like an honors event he will remember for a long time, between the special meaning for the science award and the confusion over the ACT award. What a wonderful way to wrap up his HS experience, and a proud moment for you :).
Thank you everyone for sharing your post graduation celebration plans. I love the treat ideas, and am feeling a bit better about not being the only one dragging to schedule a party over graduation weekend. I think our family needs a little down time before the celebration - all of the activities right now are happy ones, but we never seem to get time to relax or take a breath before weāre off to the next one or taking care of planning for something.
At our Sās school, if they take the AP for a class they donāt have to take a final, but they have to do a final project instead that is worth 25% of their semester grade (like finals are). Itās a nice incentive to encourage them to take the final, but the school system doesnāt pay for the tests so itās expensive for families if the kids take 3-5 of themā¦or if you have multiple kids taking them the same year. Hopefully a few will translate into some college credits
Congrats to your son @carolinamom2boys!
My S feels pretty good about the Macroecon AP he took today. Four down, only one more to go. That one is Microecon, which they didnāt spend as much time on. He actually claims to be studying for it. Thereās a first time for everything.
D is, as I write this, taking her Physics final at the community college. She has spent the last two days re-doing every problem set assigned this semester. It seems over-the-top to me, but as I have never taken Physics, who am I to judge? My sole job was to get her a maple bar for ābrain food.ā That I am capable of.
Am back on the SS Indecision. My D got a call from Harvard yesterday. Heading there this weekend for a final decision.
Guess the SS Indecision is available for day trips- good luck @carlson2 !
Wow, congrats to your D @carlson2
Congrats @carolinamom2boys
Good luck with hopefully, the final decision,@carlson2!
Good Luck @carlson2
Yes congrats and good luck!
@carlson2 Issac will be on the lido deck with drinks if needed.
Iām glad to see a little more decision action in our little forum, @carlson2! I was going through some withdrawals Will be watching for your news
We were able to get a discount on our auto insurance for having one kid away at college (needed to be over a certain distance).
I doubt we will be able to get a similar discount for our HMO, right? We will be essentially double-paying. One plan for here at home, and one plan in Lexington.
Oh well!
Good point @Midwest67 - will need to check into car insurance!
I did find out that our health insurance is accepted at the University Health Services. (He could also try to find a primary care physician in Austin but, this will be so much more convenient!) whew!
My insurance said the good student discount was better than the discount for having him away at college, so my insurance will remain the same, but my grocery bill will go down
@carlson2 Congrats!
