Another first completed today. DS16 went to the MD today , including getting his meningitis vaccine without me.
While googling around for the best dorm microwave I found that Best Buy has a deal for college students that set up an account with them, they get 20% off select appliances. The microwave I was looking at is included and 20% off brings it in under budget:-)
@3scoutsmom, make sure you check the maximum wattage of microwave that’s allowed.
@mommdc I did! school says 750 watt max I was looking at reviews and trying to find one with good reviews under that. Here’s the one I like best so far:
http://www.bestbuy.com/site/lg-0-7-cu-ft-compact-microwave-stainless-steel/8622005.p?id
it’s 700 watts, has good review and with the student discount will only be $80
Congrats on graduation @Dragonflygarden & @RyanG1207 (wonder if you are the last?)
My diploma has been fixed and now it’s sitting in it’s very fancy cover. Party preparations are in full swing here and I have an ear infection and a sinus infection
Hope you feel better for your party @readingclaygirl !
Thanks @bookmom7 I hope so too
DS went without me to get his vaccine today as well @carolinamom2boys. I know he got the correct one this time
I’m so excited because he gained 5 lbs this year. My trips to the ice cream store have paid off for him, but not so much for his mama.
@Ballerina016 - thanks for the wsj swim link. Looks like my D also has to pass. I thought it was mostly an MIT requirement!
@fretfulmother - sometimes the heroes have to leave home for new heroes to grow…
My advice to everyone is whatever you collect for immunization records, keep them safe. It was surprising to see my older D’s medical school demand original signed records to substantiate her shots from 21 years ago.
“While googling around …”
My grandmother would say “piddlin’ around”.
Of course, she also said, “Haggy Daggy,” for Häagen-Dazs. I liked my front teeth too much to correct her.
A girl I was supposed to go to college with just died in a car accident. I didn’t know her, I had never met her, yet it still shakes me to my very core. It’s awful- she was 17 and was supposed to graduate tonight.
My god. Peace.
So sorry to hear @readingclaygirl. Things really can change in an instant.
Our S has apparently done fine fending for himself in NYC the last three days. I got him the key to my room and got him dinner last night. He’s attending an improv festival which basically goes 24/7 with lots of standing in line. He came to the room early this morning to get a little sleep. Hopefully he won’t be too much of a zombie at orientation Monday and Tuesday.
Thank you both. @dyiu13 @Cheeringsection From what I’ve read so far, this girl was in the back not wearing a seatbelt. It is legal in NY for backseat passengers over the age of 16 to not wear a seatbelt. Why I don’t know, it is just not safe. Please remind your kids to always wear their seatbelts and make sure their passengers are too
@readingclaygirl, how awful! My prayers are with her family.
It is unfortunate so many young people die in accidents. Locally there were 3 girls (2 seniors and 1 in college) who passed away while returning from spring break in Corpus Christi because the driver was distracted by her GPS. One of them was a volleyball star.
Every year right after and right before graduation, our community loses quite a few teens to car accidents . Many times its related to drinking and driving , but often times its just recklessness. It’s so sad that people on the brink of the next chapter in their life pay the ultimate price. Please tell your children to be responsible , and if their friends aren’t, don’t get in the car.
