Parents of the HS Class of 2016 (Part 1)

Hope I don’t miss anyone here:
@LKnomad – Obviously the deferral has no bearing on what will happen with his RD applications. It was worth a shot – Nothing ventured, nothing gained.

@Mysonsdad – I echo @carolinamom2boys comment about karma. Moreover, the kid who’s an a**hole has to wake up every morning and live in a world where he’s disliked. It will catch up with him. Best of luck on tomorrow’s decision.

@Suzima – Wow!! That’s a big deal. Fantastic. Congrats to your son. How wonderful to have it wrapped up, especially at such a wonderful school. You should consider buying him some warm clothing when the sales start at the end of the winter.

We’re up for an ED decision tomorrow. Hopefully my son will find out what college sweatshirt he’s forbidden to wear to school!!

@AsleepAtTheWheel fingers crossed you get great news tomorrow!

Best of luck to everyone else still waiting for EA/ED decisions. Deferral just gives you another shot at the prize. You lose every shot you didn’t take.

@Suzima Congrats on the ED!

Hoping there is more good news on the way for others.

@AsleepAtTheWheel Best of luck to the ED tomorrow. This whole thing is an anxiety-filled process. I thank my lucky stars every day that it wasn’t like this when I was applying. It was just waiting for snail mail - thin envelope, no joy; thick/big envelope, woohoo!!!

@Mysonsdad Best of luck to your S on the upcoming decision.

Congrats to all those who got good news today: @Suzima! @dyiu13! @sseamom! @arisamp!

Hugs to those who got news they didn’t want: @LKnomad, @Mysonsdad.

Great good luck to those who are waiting for decisions: @AsleepAtTheWheel, @NYDad513, @Mysonsdad.

D got into her REA choice today. She is thrilled and she clicked the accept button tonight. Our ride is over, but I am going to stick around to hear about the rest of your wonderful kids. I feel like I know them, and I can’t wait to see what happens.

Congrats to your daughter@EastGrad

Congrats to those who got good news today! @Mysonsdad, I’m sorry for your loss.

D had a freak out tonight. She had meetings in school, was working on the next big part of her senior project-the defense of the topic-all while trying to be in her regular classes, followed by her internship, followed by 90 minutes of choir practice. During all of that she also had to get 5 girls to agree on a time for dance practice. She left the house at 7:30 this morning and got home at 8:30 tonight. AND, a girl at school has been bad-mouthing her to some of her friends. She said, “I feel like a chicken running around with no head!” Poor kiddo. At least this weekend she’ll get some time to chill and meet up with some family friends at an annual holiday party we’re headed to.

That’s terrific, @EastGrad

What a day! Deferred to her ED and a few hours later, the big envelope from her safety with the full tuition plus scholarship. She’s currently eating every carb in sight and spooning with the dog.

On a related note, a new coworker asked where I go to get my prominent silver streak. Honey, no need for a hair salon when you have children.

So sorry to hear of your loss @Mysonsdad. I hope your DC and his friend get some good news soon. The guy that “never” loses already has–no one will care to keep in touch with him after graduation.

Congratulations to @eastgrad and @palm715 ! I know it may be hard for her to see it right now but I believe both pieces of news were good for your DD @palm715. This gives her time to reflect upon where she REALLY should go to school and what she could do with all the money NOT spent on tuition at her safety. If the acceptance ultimately comes, she will make a VERY informed choice.

@sseamom sounds like our DC are having the same kind of week. I heard DS still up doing HW at 3:30am. He has lots of projects due this week and is just counting on some rest this weekend.

@mysonsdad I’m so sorry to hear about your friend’s father’s passing. This is a time when we all look back to our own childhoods as we are also imagine the future for our own children. Change takes but it also gives. Good luck for your S’s news today.

@suzima @dyiu13 @sseamom @arisamp @EastGrad Hearty congrats!

@lknomad @palm715 (and everyone deferred or still waiting for their top choices) Hang in there! There are many paths to happiness.

@nydad513 Best of luck to your D! My friend who started living in Telluride House seems very happy.

@AsleepAtTheWheel Hope your S16 gets his good news today. My S16 is following the path of your S14 and struggling not to succumb to senioritis. Was up until after 3 trying to get HW done to salvage his physics grade (@cheeringsection is your son already a coffee drinker, too?). Has three tests today he didn’t study for. Things don’t look great.

@AsleepAtTheWheel no my DS is caffeine free. He is just more naturally a night person.

Good luck to all today!

@Cheeringsection That was me you meant to answer. My S is also a night person, it is the mornings that are a major challenge!

Congratulations @Eastgrad and sorry if I’m missing anyone else!!

Congratulations @eastgrad !

Congratulations @palm715 !

Good Luck @AsleepAtTheWheel !

@EastGrad Congrats! You must be extremely proud of your D.

Congrats all around!

Anybody else just happy it’s Friday? TGIF

Congrats to you and your DCs @suzima @dyiu13 @sseamom @arisamp @EastGrad

@lknomad @palm715 hang in there I know of several kids who were deferred and then admitted in the RD round to their top choice lottery school.

FIngers crossed for those expecting news today.

@RyanG1207 I am indeed glad it is Friday. We were out late for my DD’s last holiday concert. Then stayed up with her while she tried to get her homework done. She too had homework until very late last night due to the concert getting out so late.

So, any winter break plans yet?
