S did not get the UCB admit today.
I am really starting to think all the work S has put in over the past 3 1/2 years with all the stress of the CA, FAFSA, CSS profile, IDOC and all the money spent on SAT, and SAT test prep, SAT subject tests and SAT subject tests prep books, AP Tests, whose costs go up every year, all the hours of youth S lost studying for those exams, spending countless weekends going to student ran organization conferences, going to the traveling road shows of colleges who entice S to apply when they know he has no chance, spending his summers interning with a congressman when he could have been on vacation, etc… Only to be rejected or find out we can’t afford the school, was an utter waste of time. I honestly think he would have been better off taking easy classes, hanging out with friends and not stressing about anything, then working hard in a cc for two years and transferring.

@Mysonsdad He will get accepted at the right school. He’s a smart boy , one of his choices will snatch him up.
@Mysonsdad He will get into UCB in March. Only 1.5% or so was notified today. You got a good news from UCLA just last week.
@Mysonsdad Although I don’t know how California universities work, it is my impression that this is just a small group of people who were notified today. The overwhelming majority will hear later in March. Your S will be part of that group. You’ll see.
If I’m not mistaken, you mentioned that your school has better luck with UCLA than UCB. Unfortunately, this kind of follows the pattern established. Wait until UCLA comes out.

I think all that hard work your S has put in the past 3.5 years has already started to pay off - you’ve got a bright young man on your hands.
Because of the work ethic he’s displayed the past few years and very accomplished record, his potential is really limitless regardless of which school is lucky to have him.
