@LKnomad QUICK! Jump in the Tardis, go to April 1st, read this thread, and report back to us which schools our kids got into! You’ll save us a whole lot of anxiety!
@Mom2jl@Ballerina016 My S is also waiting on Cal Poly SLO as a CS major. I don’t think I’ve seen CS or math acceptances yet, primarily biology, biochem, and mech eng. It is the strangest process ever!!
@happymochi, I was trying to figure out how to do a Dr. Who reference, but I thought he could only go back in time. I still prefer Marty McFly simply because the scene where the terrorists chase him and he hits 88 mph and time travels for the first time was filmed at my local mall. I remember driving by and seeing the Twin Pines Mall sign.
@texaspg it is specific to one college. Our local Cal State. Like I have said before, they have an awesome cypher security program and the government pays students $30,000/year to attend. That is a separate scholarship though.
“According to older posts from previous years, those who get it means they’re in. They will announce that you got in at the reception, that’s why they want you to attend.”
Last time, I posted a wrong reply on wrong post, I did not feel well and was away from forum.
Finally feel much better and logged in. There are so many posts and I cannot follow all. Congrats for any good news and condolences for not a good news.
DD finished her last interview a few days ago and everything seems fine. Her 1st semester BC calc grade is a bit low but it is OK range I guess. Today, she got a big scholarship notification from U of Michigan which will cover 4 years of COA plus 10K fund for studying abroad, internship or other purposes. As an OOS student, U of Mich was low on her list but now it moved up quite high. We need to wait until late March to have all the options available but this scholarship is huge for us.
Did everyone whose DC did not get into Berkeley yesterday get an email saying their application is still under review and results will be released March 24?
WOW @DAPIStained ! That’s awesome! It would be hard to turn something like that down, I’m sure.
Sorry for those of you going through stress over the CA colleges-seems so crazy to me with numbers in the tens of thousands of accepted kids.
I tried to post earlier, but don’t think it went through. D and her partner got 2nd place in her class for their science project and missed 1st by only a few points. But the real payoff is the photo the South American school they are working with sent them of the kids cheering and waving for their help with providing their energy-producing project, which will power the kids’ computers one day.
My oldest turned 31 today. I am in denial about how old that makes ME. We’ll have his favorite food on Monday-he chose either Italian or Polish traditional foods that he grew up with. Tonight he is celebrating with friends in the music business.
D was supposed to drive on the freeway for the first time tonight, but her class got cancelled. She was relieved, did not want her first freeway drive to be at night in the rain. Next drive is Tuesday, assuming everyone shows up. She’s had me looking up her favorite stores in Nashville and was relieved to learn that there is a Target and a Container Store near her school, and more Starbucks than you could shake a stick at. And I was happy to see that there is a Bed, Bath and Beyond at her favorite mall. Now she’s having me research places to visit on our trip there in April. Besides the mall, that is.
Got the room reserved for H’s Valentine’s Day “kidnapping”. I got a good deal on Hotwire for one with free parking and wifi, and it will be an east drive from our house. While we’re eating dinner downtown tomorrow night, I opted NOT to pick a place there since parking is rarely included and I didn’t want to worry where our car would be in the morning.
D will finally get some downtime with her friends tomorrow night, and she has Monday at her internship but Tuesday there is no school. Everything should be much calmer from now on.
