^^^^You GO!
@Mysonsdad So much new info here in the past few weeks, but if my memory serves me right, your S has amazing credentials and is an amazing kidâŠyet hasnât gotten positive results as early as many other folks here (which has been discouraging to say the least). So, chin upâŠthings are beginning to look up and I am sure there are many positive things to come in short order. In the meantimeâŠa huge YEAH! for Boston College and hopefully a very happy moment for your amazing S! Hang in thereâŠI for one am a cheerleader for your SâŠand am sending good wishes his way (and yours)!!!
Oh, yes, and Happy St. Paddyâs. :-& <-- Greenest thing I could find. How about a 4-leaf clover AND a piece of cake AND a bowl of ice cream, @texaspg?
@EastGrad Wow, just wowâŠlove those comprehensive summaries! And did I say wowâŠ
My god, youâre amazing @EastGrad!
I have to admit, I feel a little woozy. And, Frenchtoast, the new profile pic is striking indeed.
Haha yea @EastGrad. From my second favorite painting, Ophelia by Millais. My favorite is Judith Slaying Holofernes by Caravaggio Very morbid, but I have a print of it hanging in my bedroom. Call me weird, but I think itâs an artistic masterpiece not only for his technique, but the theory behind why he possibly painted it.
You are amazing, @EastGrad!
You are hilarious, @Mysonsdad - Posting on CC from a Springsteen concert! Please shout out a loud - âBRUUUUCEâ for all of us old people! Did the old LA Sports Area (canât believe itâs still standing) let you bring in a lighter (old school) or do you have to use an app on your phone (new school, and not really at all the same!)
Congratulations and Happy Days to the rest of those with good news: @AnxietyAttack77! @PAO2008! @Cheeringsection! @DAPIStained! and @frenchtoastlover, who seems to be batting 1000!?
Good luck to everyone expecting a bunch of decisions tomorrow (well, I guess itâs really âtodayâ since itâs just after midnight and is actually Friday now)! Sending positive vibes to everyone! :)>-
Goodnight, and âStay Classy San Diego!â
PS> I agree with East Grad that there should be an âbirthday cakeâ emoji! I am still confused by some of the ones you can choose from in the drop down box. What is this one suppose to mean, anyway? 8-}
@morningside95 Will be back with more updates tomorrow and Saturday (itâs only 10 on the West Coast ). The updates will keep coming for a whileâŠ
Congrats @mysonsdad
Thanks @EastGrad
@morningside95 Thanks. My DS has mainly applied to CA schools as he wants to stay in CA. He is happy with his UCB offer. Rest of the results will be out shortly. UCI is a good college and only about 30 min drive from home. My DS has played many soccer tournaments at UCI soccer fields.
I donât know much about CSU. But yes CSU are cheaper than UC. Cal Poly SLO is definitely a highly ranked school and the campus is absolutely beautiful and in a great location.
@mommdc - I know what you mean about sons and hugs at this age, but at least you have a younger one! Our S '16 is the baby. When he was born, DH said we would have to find another way to spend time with kids that didnât involve having more. Happily, we now have a granddaughter, and with one in college, it may not be too long before you have that to enjoy too! The college admissions process seems to be agonizingly slow at times, but the actual college years seem to fly by.
@Skates76 - Too nice, haha! Sounds like something my S '16 would say. Heâs probably like your D '16.
And congrats again to everyone on all of the great news. Keep it rolling in!
On another front, S '16 declined his first school today. It was the only one that he applied to EA and the only one on his list that he had from way back, so it was a sentimental thing for him. He said it felt strange to let it go, even though he knew it wasnât the right place for him or even close to competitive financially. This is only going to get harder with each elimination. WowâŠthat sounded remarkably like the Bachelor!
@PAO2008 - Boys! So inconsiderate of their parentâs feelings, haha. Our S keeps getting acceptances after heâs decided he doesnât want to attend. If we are really lucky he waits for the packet in the mail before he disillusions us. I think these kids are messing with our minds. (Well, ok, mine was probably a little messed up already.)
@crowlady- So even the adults are impressed by the food at U Mass? Wow. Just as well my boys didnât know about that place before the college apps went out or it might have been all over! âWhatâs for dinnerâ is the lead in to all conversations, even via text. You are blessed with two boys as well. Nice. We really appreciate our boys. We had our girls first, and it was wonderful, but especially after having three teen-aged daughters at the same time, the guys were a nice change of pace. Any daughters in your family? I know what you mean about college visits and spring break. It can drive us to nail-biting, for sure. Fortunately we have had some offers for paid visits or I donât know what we would do. I guess itâs a good problem to have, right? And no school for seniors three weeks at the end. They quibble about three days around here. S will be so jealous!
@Cheeringsection - I vote for stopping the mail! Is that a real thing? I know what you mean. These kids are victims of their own success. I think S '16 has done as many or more applications for scholarships, honors, etc as he did actual college apps, and he did his share. Anybody else having fun with their high school pushing scholarship app after scholarship app at them? They want good results in the community and larger area. Just when you think youâve turned the corner, you realize the road never ends!
@EastGrad - We all struggle when you miss a day. No pressure! Well done!!! Haha- can I quote you re: the cake comment to our kids? Although Iâm sure they wonât know who you were talking about since you were so complimentary.
@EastGrad bows in amazement to you
D16 called and texted me since 4:30 this morning. She and DW are in Florida on an accepted student visit and her Mom caught and is repeatedly, ahem, expressing the stomach bug that S21 and half of the schools her have had. They are supposed to leave later this evening because D has a big science Olympiad on Saturday and she is captain of the team. Had to calm her down, remind what to do, what not to do (i.e. panic), and discuss contingency plans. Now that they are hopefully on the right track, Iâm going to try to get back to sleep, keep hoping I donât get it and maintain a strong faith in ginger ale as a wonder drug. Sigh (-:
Yikes! @Skates76- So sorry to hear that they are suffering and isnât it awful to try to deal with a crisis long-distance? S recently had a very important scholarship weekend and wouldnât you know? The night before he got a nose bleed (which I donât think heâs ever had) that would not stop so he was frantically texting as well. Murphyâs Law, right? And glimpses of SOS contacts to come next year. At least your DD and DW are together. But maybe your D isnât thinking of that as a positive right now? If she is the captain, there must be a good deal of composure under the potential panic. Hopefully the day will make all of the difference! Good luck!
And now, for all of those that I have been annoying, I am headed off to get some sleep. I always get too chatty (ok, loopy) when Iâm tired and try to post too much late at night.
@PAO2008, congratulations! My S is in at Brandeis as well. And congratulations @mysonsdad, @AnxietyAttack77 , and @DAPIStained !
Hoping for a speedy recovery @Skates76 . Maybe she can get some help from one of those ânice southernersâ Did they fly or drive?Maybe some pepto may help. Try some bananas and applesauce if sheâs not vomiting ( so to be so descriptive )
