Thank you so much @GoodGrief16 with her low self esteem she keeps on asking what made those schools that deferred her to change their minds. I guess we will never know.
DD got her first rejection today. Ugh. Hadnât visited but still hurts the fragile ego. I thought she might at least get a waitlist since her stats were in their range, she really personalized the app to the school and did her research. Oh well.
Ouch, sorry to hear that @Mrspepper. It does hurt, even when you think you wonât care. I was mad at GT for a couple of days. Then I was thankful!
@Ballerina016, I think there are just so many applicants from CA that it is a bit of a disadvantage initially. She proved herself though!
@Waiting2exhale - well, I thought I edited it. Turns out I didnât catch the first uppercase letter. My cost conscious D was waitlisted at Pomona. Finally an easy decision.
@OspreyCV22 - yay, congratulations on VT and Pamplin/BIT. My nieceâs guy friend - that is his major and he loves it. Iâm wondering when we will hear about honors college and possible scholarship $$? We want to visit but I donât want to spend the money if we donât get any merit money, as much as I love VT and our whole extended family loves VT!
Congrats again!!!
Thanks, SouthFlorida. I really didnât want her to go that far away anyway. I do wish I knew the whyâs though. It seems itâs the least they could do. Then you wouldnât have to guess. Meanwhile a classmate was telling everyone today she got waitlisted at U Chicago( not the school DS was rejected from) but she doesnât have top scores, or any ECs (jv tennis?), leadership, volunteering or awards and no hooks that are obvious. Another much more accomplished student from their tiny class was rejected. Itâs hard to understand.
@Mrspepper - in a weird way itâs good, because if your child got in everywhere youâd worry you didnât reach enough. At least thatâs how I felt.
But gosh darn it, it does make you wonder.
Yes, I thought of that-the feeling of not reaching. She didnât want to apply anywhere on East coast and adamant no Ivies even though it would have been reasonable for her to try. No frigid places, or big cities- ugh. So many arbitrary rules. The process was so frustrating with her. Totally uninterested in visiting any schools until this past month. I thought maybe she should have taken a gap year. On the other hand she knows what she wants to study and has a plan. She has some near full rides from NMF and a top 20 school EA that is wonderful, and that, I personally, think would be perfect for her. I think she knows it, too, but just wants to see the last 2 schools play out. I think she will be fine. Itâs mom that is exhausted by the process.
S got into UCLA with Regents.
DD just found out she got into UCLA and Harvey Mudd!!! Iâm crying happy tears here and we are both so excited!
Congrats @Mysonsdad and @Mom2jl !
@Mom2jl Congratulations <:-P <:-P <:-P <:-P <:-P <:-P

What a happy day at your house!
Editing to add my congratulations to @Mysonsdad
@Mom2jl , what thrilling news!!
Congrats to everyone on acceptances and scholarships, hugs for the rejections and wait lists .
Congratulations to all with good news today! Hoping that those with news that wasnât quite what they wanted will at least have an easier time deciding.
@Skates76 Smart and charming. Those Clemson boys can be a great catch.
Congrats to everyone with super fantastic news tonight!
Hugs to those feeling the sting of disappointment.
Iâll ditto what @bookmom7 just posted. Hope your DC get past the disappointments and on to better news. Seems like everyone has options which has been my mantra with both my kids - having options in the spring.
Congrats to all with wonderful news tonight. It makes me happy to come here and read all the good news.
Yes, they certainly can! Iâve been married to one for nearly 20 years.
