Parents of the HS Class of 2016 (Part 1)

Thank you @Dragonflygarden . Congrats to your son . My goddaughter got into William and Mary ED. She’s beyond excited .

It’s totally okay to brag about one of D’s friends @BeeDAre One of my best friends is going to UChicago and I couldn’t be prouder

@bookmom7 I was at U of I from '91 - '95

Congratulations @carolinamom2boys! Now you are officially done!

Congrats @Dragonflygarden

And with the rejection from Vandy, we can conclude that, in fact, third is not the charm.

This isn’t where I pictured myself last year. A blow to my ego is an understatement, this is a new low. I’ll be attending my state school while remaining on the waitlist at my #1. I think the big thing is that I WANTED to make the choice. IF I was to go to my state school, I at least wanted to be the one to choose that. Turns out, I don’t get to make that call.

Congrats to everyone with all the good news. At least it’s all coming to an end.

Sorry for all the disappointment @ProbDeferred

Congrats @carolinamom2boys!!

So sorry @ProbDeferred . I hope you come off the wait list soon.

Congrats @carolinamom2boys!!!’ <:-P =D> :smiley: You should be really proud.

Sorry about the wait list @Dragonflygarden. Glad you received some good news as well.

Best of luck to your son @carolinamom2boys at CoC!!!

And congrats for being done with the college process :slight_smile:

Sending u hugs @ProbDeferred

@ProbDeferred - sorry it did not work out for you :frowning: So many good students are being waitlisted & rejected- it really is anyone’s guess what happens in some of those admissions offices. Best of luck to you as you move forward!

@ProbDeferred , I’m so sorry you’re feeling disappointed.

I’m rooting for you to get off the waitlist.

Hugs to those with not-so-great news!!

Here we had a slight panic/meltdown over homework. Because of a weird schedule DS16 ended up with a huge pile of homework. Tonight/tomorrow is a Jewish holiday (Purim) when one can work/write/drive but DS needed to stay home from services that the rest of us went to, to finish his work. :frowning: On the bright side, he did laundry while home and was in a great mood when we got back because he got on top of his stuff again. I’m going to offer him that he can go to services tomorrow if he wants and go in later to school.

@readingclaygirl: “We were also talking about the transition from our middle class, 99% white town to more diverse areas.”

You know, readingclay, I hope you find what you are looking for. I know other young people will be looking for someone like you. Lead as you learn, listen as you lead, have patience with those who may seem to be standing still.

Come back and let us know how things are going.

I agree with @Waiting2exhale. I hope you check back in at some point and let us know how you are doing @readingclaygirl.

Congrats on your son depositing at CofC @carolinamom2boys. I had a feeling that would be his choice.

Super Fantastic @carolinamom2boys! You’ve reached the Harbor!

Wow, I had a really long day so wasn’t able to check CC as often as I usually do. I am not going to try to recognize all the happy and sad announcements, but will highlight a few that stood out.

Sorry for your situation, @ProbDeferred . Hoping you get off the waitlist, but if you don’t, you might have the option to transfer. Or you might discover you really enjoy your state school after all.

@AsleepAtTheWheel My first thought about UIUC – the first popular web browser Mosaic came from their supercomputing center. So they will always have a good reputation in my book. My second thought – I only recently learned that my dad flunked out of UIUC and eventually ended up at MIT for grad school. I don’t know how that might help your friend, but there it is.

Congrats on the decision, @carolinamom2boys and to @BeeDAre 's friend.
