Parents of the HS Class of 2016 (Part 1)

@sseamom: “Some of us from more fortunate circumstances might have tsk tsk’d with sympathy, but she was over the moon! She got into UW! In her major! With merit aid! She immediately began to encourage others to go for their dreams and never give up.”

Some of us would have stood on the spot, embraced and cried with her.

You slay me, @sseamom, knock me right out.

Congrats to your son on Berkley @LKnomad

congrats @LKnomad !

@LKnomad Congratulations!!!

Congrats @LKnomad

Congratulations @LKnomad!

@LKnomad There should be a link to a Financial Aid and Scholarships page from the Application Status Portal. Click that, and it will take you to a webpage with the option to log into CalConnect at the top of the page. Hit that, and choose to log in with MAP@Berkeley ID. You can check you financial award there.

Does any parent of a Regents’ and Chancellors’ Scholar know where to check if we received the scholarship? CalConnect is really confusing to navigate.

Congrats, Super-Congrats, Super-Duper-Congrats @LKnomad ! ! ! ! ! ! ! <:-P <:-P <:-P <:-P <:-P

Found the financial aid AND WE ARE STILL BEING FAFSA VERIFIED!!!

@LKnomad – There are a lot of kids who’d be willing to have a finger amputated to get into either UCLA or Cal Berkeley. You’re son’s in at both, with all ten digits intact. Congrats to him. Simply fantastic. I’m sitting here at my desk smiling ear to ear for you guys.

.

Yes. @frenchtoastlover It is under my finances DD got Regents.

new RC recipient message states: "Congratulations! You have been awarded the Regents’ and Chancellor’s Scholarship! Please review your scholarship award offer by going to “My Finances” and clicking on “Details” in the “Financial Aid and Scholarships 2016-17” section. Be sure to check your Regents’ and Chancellor’s Scholarship Award Letter on the Map@Berkeley portal for instructions on how to accept the scholarship. "

@LKnomad, have you been able to use the IRS data retrieval tool on the FAFSA yet to link your tax return, or is the verification because of your business?

Congrats @LKnomad but boo on verification! =(( they were explaining it at the financial aid information session at accepted students weekend and it sounds like a pian! Somehow we dodged the bullet on that one-twice!

S heard this morning he was awarded a large scholarship to his safety, UMBC-- only one student in his high school can get this particular scholarship. The principal called him into his office, then called us and left a message on our answering machine. My S feels very sought after. However, he wants to go OOS and has several good (though obviously moe expensive) options. We hope if he turns it down they will award it to someone else in his high school. We know many people who have gone to UMBC – it is a fine school.

Spring break starts tomorrow for him – except for the physics due at midnight tomorrow night. Why would a teacher do that?

Welcome @momeila!

And welcome to @esteemom

Great, thank you @Ballerina016 and congratulations to your D! Looks like I didn’t receive the scholarship. I’m a little bit surprised given that I thought the interview was actually one of the best so far in terms of college interviews (but I really shouldn’t be).

On the bright side, I got into Haverford today with a really, really, nice handwritten note attached to the acceptance letter!

And woops, with the information I gave, I forgot to congratulate you @LKnomad!

@LKnomad Congratulations!!! for UCB.

@momeila, I have not really talked about where D16 has decided to go on this thread as it seemed to be the theme. I like the idea of the big revel when everyone knows final decisions. That and as she was accepted ED I know some may have students that applied to the school RD and those results are not out yet. It just seemed polite to wait. But her acceptances are on the list. If anyone wanted they could figure it out. But again I like the wait and anticipation. Most people here are narrowing it all down and lends some excitement to my participation.

Congratulations @lknomad and welcome to the newbies!
