@Booajo I know from recent posts it sounded like the nine were being whittled down a bit, has she gotten down to a few favorites yet? Now it is the kids’ turn to accept or reject the schools, turnabout is fair play.
Hello from Portland on our way to Walla Walla for our visit to Whitman! Driving 4 hours!!! Just got off the plane. Well catch up with the Ivy results a bit later.
Hope he likes Whitman. They seem to like him.
Thanks @labegg my son had started to see an internist this year but we need to schedule a last appointment with the Ped practice to get the newer meningitis shots. Luckily we just need 1 appt and the other 2 does they can do at the drop in shot clinic. Nice to see that they can do it at 16 so I’ll drag the younger one along too I also need the huge form for the disability office filled out which will probably take a LONG time.
Congrats to you all who got into the Ivy’s and to all who didn’t get where they were hoping. Hugs.
My son got into UPenn Engineering, so the request for two specific financial documents so close to ivy day was definitely a positive sign of acceptance! Hugs to all, it’s not a fully happy day. Some rejections, and some acceptances with little or no financial aid which dampens the celebration…
@Waiting2exhale my son got 2 fly in offers. 1 school it was fairly common and the other it was uncommon. I have no idea how they select these. He is getting some need based $ but for schools costing $70K that’s pretty common and we are still paying a lot. I had booked early but used southwest so now we have credit to use for him to come home on Thanksgiving
@ReminiscingDad, congratulations to your son!! I saw that the RD admit rate was 6%. I hope your son gets the f. aid he needs.
There is a Penn Parents private facebook group that’s just getting off the ground. If yout son decides on Penn, and you would like to join, feel free to PM me and I can send you an invititation.
Congrats to him @ReminiscingDad <:-P
Congrats @ReminiscingDad!!!
Fantastic News @ReminiscingDad <:-P <:-P <:-P <:-P <:-P
Congratulations, congratulations, congratulations ! ! ! ! ! ! ! ! !
Thanks, everybody.
I have to say I’m not disappointed exactly-- I’d just as soon have him closer to home at Ginormous Flagship U, to be honest, and let him chase Ivy for grad school. But, like moms and dads everywhere, you just hate to see your kid disappointed, y’know?
Congrats @frenchtoastlover <:-P <:-P <:-P <:-P <:-P <:-P <:-P
Congratulations @petrichor11 <:-P <:-P <:-P <:-P <:-P <:-P <:-P
Congrats to those with happy news and hugs to those who didn’t get the news they wanted. S got the transfer option at Cornell. For him, it is the perfect scenario given his major change of heart about what he wants for college. I had forgotten about the transfer option and I am happy he has it.
@Mizzoumom Good that things work out in the best way for you, guys
@CAMidwestMom What is the transfer option to Cornell?
Are Mizzoumom and CAMidwestMom the same person?
Thank you so much @readingclaygirl , @frenchtoastlover , @kittymom1102 and thank you @sbjdorlo for the information about the facebook, I’ll PM you to receive your invitation. I don’t have a facebook page though, but my son has one, is this for parents only?
Hugs to those with disappointments, we got a few also, @petrichor11 I understand you, I feel the same way about my son’s UMD fantastic opportunity vs the ivies
@texaspg Basically, he has to keep a certain GPA and can transfer there as a sophomore. There is a person who will work with him to coordinate the classes he would need - to make sure they transfer - and then he fills out a ‘simplified’ app after Dec 16 and if he fulfills the requirements, he will get in. That’s the basics anyways. Have to read more about it soon.
Congrats to those who got good news today, and hugs, fondue and peaceful days ahead for those who did not get what they hoped for.
@frenchtoastlover I’m just agog. How many acceptances does that make? Are we going to be reading about you on the internets for having the most acceptances ever? You really should write a book and spill your secrets once you’ve made your decision.
