@4kids2graduate thanks we are about to get out if bed and get moving now. Can’t wait to see it.
Still waiting on *********** Reed results.

@Zelanie Waiting for Reed here as well.
@LKnomad good luck to you as well! I’ve got my Reed shirt on today- that will help, right? D appears chill and so I haven’t told her about the boxes or FedEx tracking- if she hasn’t looked that up and is happy to wait, I’m happy for her. If she has, then she’s keeping it to herself and that’s fine too.
@Zelanie Welcome! Good luck to your D with Reed. @LKnomad also wishing for good results from Reed.
@Mysonsdad Congrats on the commitment to UCLA. Sounds like your S found a wonderful home for the next 4 years where he will thrive.
@waitingtoexhale While the younger generation does not seem to wear pantyhose, I’m with you - it is a smoothing essential for dress clothes. I have a business casual dress code at work and rarely wear dresses. But for special events like weddings, I’m still pulling out the pantyhose.
So, our trip on the SS Indecision is beginning this weekend. We’ll dock at four ports in the next 4 weeks - with one weekend off for S’s senior class trip. Including the schools revisited last week, that makes return visits to 6 schools in 6 weeks. But since S is still not absolutely sure about what we all think is his #1, I’m making the time along with hotel reservations (and one set of plane reservations). I want S to be sure and feel good about the decision. It’s just that I need to fit work in there somehow - and sleep. I’ll need a lounge chair and several massages in May.
Aww, I’m sorry to disappoint @4kids2graduate and @crowlady! Just looked into it and sounds amazing, but alas, I guess it just wasn’t meant to be.
And @sseamom, thank you!!! I’m frankly really surprised. Brown doesn’t seem to like our school(although I’m not sure why), many people applied to Dartmouth from my school this year, and Harvard RD was even harder than Stanford RD (if only by .2% and I think I’m the only one from my school to get in Harvard RD even though there were MANY applicants from my school who seem to be more qualified. I just counted 23 acceptances, 2 waitlists, 2 rejections, but I don’t know about most acceptances haha. Although I’m not sure I could fill a book, I’ll definitely be posting an in-depth reflection on my college process detailing everything from how I chose where to apply, the process of completing the app, what knowledge I picked up and how, my decision process for choosing where I’ll matriculate, and my tips for future applicants.
EDIT: I’ll also include my stats, and if parents are interested in the dhe details of my stats (ECs and so forth), I’d happy to provide them to parents only (perhaps I can send one parent it and it can be shared via the FB group?). I just don’t want the entire internet to know some specific details for confidentiality’s sake.
Just fascinating to see how much the college admissions picture has changed in five years. Five years ago, when D applied, the forum was just out of control on ivy day. Hundreds of posts overnight - several acceptances, several rejections. I was expecting some of that today when I logged in, but surprisingly only had about a 100 posts. I think a lot of the kids today are applying early, ED/EA and probably going for a much more well balanced list. Happy to see that!
@frenchtoastlover - congratulations! I know one girl who applied similarly - but her results were unfortunately not as good.
Chatted with son last night (via messages!). He’s fine with the choices he has - now to make the final call. He has significant merit offers from all schools but one (full tuition/half tuition everywhere), but wouldn’t you know it - the front runner is the only school on his list that doesn’t offer merit aid
Thank you very much @arisamp! I consider myself insanely fortunate in my admissions decisions. I too, know many who were not as fortunate.
Best of luck with the decision-making process for your S!
Last year our school had 2 Stanford acceptances and 3 wait-lists. This year not even a single wait-list. Class of 2016 is stronger than class of 2015. I believe Stanford might have blacklisted our school after no one matriculated to Stanford last year. Also no one ever got into Princeton from our school.
I’m sitting at home this morning waiting for a scholarship notification for my son. This is torture! I know it’s on the way and will arrive within two hours, but the waiting is killing me.
Meanwhile, son headed off to school merrily.
(Edited to add: I’m not opening it.)
@fretfulmother The FA portal is working now!
So my S spent the night in the dorms of some friends at UCLA. They played some basketball, but then started studying so he found another friend he knows who goes to UCLA and they hung out. He said he loves the campus and told me he feels like he is home and that he is so happy right now.
congrats and hugs as necessary to everyone
Is anyone else here struggling with severe senioritis?
Great news @Mysonsdad .
Awesome @Mysonsdad!
So happy for you and your DS @Mysonsdad ! Feeling at home is wonderful.
@missbwith2boys if I planned not to open it, I would prefer it arrive later in the day so I would not be tempted to change my mind! >:)
@Mysonsdad: “…told me he feels like he is home and that he is so happy right now.”
Brother, this has made me cry.
@Cheeringsection He will be home in 15 minutes to open it, so I don’t have to wait too long!
Our school had 14 kids get into UCLA this year. The graduating class is 165 kids. I don’t know the total number, but I know at least 5 who got into Berkeley, but not that many applied. I think 3 were rejected from Stanford. No one from my school has ever gotten into Stanford. No Ivys this year either, but we usually don’t get a lot of students into Ivys, partially because not too many people apply.
@Zelanie - welcome!
making hotel reservations today too @PAO2008 - you have a much busier schedule than us though- safe travels!
yay! @Mysonsdad - sounds like it is all falling into place!
good luck @missbwith2boys - hope it is good merit $
@mom23travelers - is there also a parent’s version of senioritas? In a way I also feel as if I have ‘hit a wall.’ :-<
ready for a final decision (but, on the other hand don’t want to have time slip away of what is left of senior year!)
@bookmom7 I came down with parent senioritis right before my DS made a decision too! It gets a bit better once they decide and you can move on with the rest of life.
