We are impatiently waiting to hear back from Tulane. I must check the portal 20 times a day.
Going to my local ballot place today so I don’t have to deal with lines next week. I’m in Florida so I feel like my vote counts here. The local ads here are ridiculous. I don’t even want to watch tv anymore.
There have been acceptances threads in the past. Basically people just put their CC name in alphabetical and schools which their kids got accepted to. They also then listed the schools in alphabetical order and then had the CC name after. Not sure how to set that up. Maybe on the fb group we could do a google docs?
A special congratulations to you folks getting great news from Tulane. It’s especially fitting considering the sad news that the Tulane and CC communities are experiencing with the loss of FallenChemist. Thank you David!
Thanks everyone! And it is bittersweet that the news comes on the heels of the loss of FallenChemist. He was one of the few posters on CC that I really felt I knew even though we never met. Such a loss. For those of you mentioning Tulane as the one that got away, I don’t think that the EA apps are due until November 15 so there’s time and there’s no fee! They just start admitting on a rolling basis, apparently, which is wonderful. It’s so nice to know that the S17 will be going to college.
@Fishnlines29 – yes, on CA!!! Given the lateness of the hour, I could easily have missed the name of the school. I have no idea what made Northeastern pop up. Forty minutes later, when filing the second app, CA had an error after I entered all CC info, so I just logged out, logged back in, and raced through final approval and payment, etc. That one ended up with a date/time stamp of 11:59pm, so cutting it quite close!
Came home from work yesterday and my S decided to add 1 more EA to his list (of 8). Butler - no fee, no essay - although he submitted the CA essay. 10 minutes later and $12 for the ACT score and he has now applied to 11 or his 12 schools. He has 2 accepts but neither are in his top 5. One is his safety school, the other was another “free app, no essay” school. Not off the table, but unlikely.
It is really nice to get those accepts! Both schools are now hounding him to apply to the honors programs! That sure didn’t happen to me 35 years ago!
Naviance - My son has 2 LOR that were due yesterday that still show on his naviance as “In Progress”. He went to the counselor’s office and their view shows “Submitted” with a date of 10/31. There is another status on the counselor’s status of “Delivered” which one of his other teacher’s LOR show. Hopefully he is good and this doesn’t kick him from the EA pool for those two schools (in his top 5).
Congrats to newly accepted students. That’s awesome. We wait patiently, first acceptance could come Nov 10 for one his safeties. We ended up submitting 8 apps. I don’t know if he’ll send anymore RD or not, but most likely no.
Checked son’s college email account and he has not received one college email today, a first! He has been getting pounded with emails from Tulane, U Chicago, and Pitt. Didn’t apply to any of those, nor demonstrated any interest, so maybe they’ll send less mail now. Very interesting to see how the schools market to the kids.
@STEAM2017 EA extensions are coming via email?? So I should have S17 check his email to see if he’s gotten for the school that didn’t get submitted in time. (I think he throws most of these emails in the trash.) I would think it’s a possibility since they probably have a good idea he was trying. Since we have sent the SAT’s, Transcripts & he’s started the application.
Honestly I’m not that concerned I think this school is a sort of a “rolling” school. Meaning they process applications in order they get them. If he gets the application in soon he may still hear sooner than later, just not guaranteed before Dec 15th.

For me skin in the game includes working hard.
An example of no skin is a kid who doesn’t work hard or study, and expects to go to a 60k school that their parents will pay for 100%. That would not fly in our house.
H and I will work on the css next week, bUT d17 gets an entire month of peace.
D has a bunch of EA extensions in her email too. Butler is one of them… that in combination with @jpc763 post made me go back and revisit the NPC for them again. Still too expensive that was one I was really hoping we could make work.
@Stem2017 Thanks… I talk with him this afternoon & have him check. I honestly haven’t said much more than hi/bye/goodnight to him for the last few days. Wed is his one early afternoon. It’s been the pinnacle of marching band season & he has been so crazy busy. Thankfully MB season ends this weekend. Not even going to have him look at other apps but this one until that is over. (I think he was just 1-2 short answer questions away from finishing.)
Honestly I’ve been planing for months that Thanksgiving weekend is college app time. Both U. of California & Cal State are due Nov. 30th and while I’d love for them to be in earlier. I worry about the servers getting slow. These two apps cover over half the schools he is applying to. But he should have little homework. (Officially our school district considers T-giving a homework free weekend but teachers don’t always follow these rules.) No band… and theoretically lots of time to work on them.
