Georgia Tech’s RD announcements came out today, and it’s not a pretty site over in the GT forum.
From the GT 2021 FB page:
I’m guessing in-state admit rate is closer to 30%, but OOS is in the teens with 1500+ SAT, 34/35 ACT…etc…

You told me you liked the red speedo @Gator88NE
@Gator88NE HAHAHA.
@STEM2017 I caught my kids burning my pair, a few years ago…they were chanting something ominous in Latin…
@socalmom007 UCSB to SLO is doable. Maybe not ideal but they could do train I think and that’s easy without the heavy traffic of the drive. Rival schools though big time lol. Sounds like he heard from SLO
@eandesmom oh yes, denied from slo. The only reason I can figure is because he didn’t list junior high math and language. Otherwise, his score would have been well within range. I had him pull his app to see what went wrong, wish I had completed it for him.
D17 actually got waitlisted at GA tech. She did apply to their international program at the Ivan Allen School of Liberal arts, so she was not competing with the CS and engineering majors. She thought she would get rejected outright, so this put her in a bit better mood. GA tech would be so affordable, but I just looked at the program, and they dont have the foreign language (hebrew) that she wants. If she had gotten in, we probably would have done her first year there and then transferred to one of her dream schools. We are still waiting to hear from them.
The surprising thing is my D’s stats. 3.5 UW. 29ACT. But her essays were really good, as well as her EC’s. She has a real focus on community service. She is also not afraid to try something new. Also, having spent a semester abroad, taking both high school and college classes probably helped.
Between waiting on if she passes this online PF class, and her dream schools, its only going to get more stressful.
@Gator88NE Thanks, we can count that as the JOTD! ;))
@HappyGoLucky2017 That was a joke? If you’ve even seen @STEM2017 or me in a Speedo, you wouldn’t think it’s a joke…the horror…the horror… X_X
@Gator88NE I thank God every day for the guy who invented the rash guard shirt. It says to the world “He’s not fat, he surfs”
More good news for son17 today, banner week of pickle ball championships, DECA trip winner to DisneyLand and he just found out he’s been accepted to RPI.
Happy he’s getting some good news flowing his way. :-j
I haven’t been able to talk to him yet as he’s away at a conference right now, but I texted over a copy of his acceptance. I’m sure he’ll be thrilled.
@RightCoaster Congrats to your son! It does seem like it is his week!
To all of the others with good news Well Done!
I hope in a few weeks we will all have the final decisions made. I reminded my twins that they do have to make a choice soon.
Congrats @RightCoaster !
Great day!
@twoforone99 thanks! When do your kids find out? Do they want to go to the same school?
@RightCoaster congrats on all three!!
@RightCoaster What a week! Congrats!!!
Congrats to Rightcoaster’s son on RPI!!! My son has also been accepted to RPI - intended to double major in EE & CS. partial scholarship - makes it competitive (cost wise) with GTech with no $$.
S17 got admitted to Caltech! I’m so excited for him! <:-P
Big congrats to our RPI admits @RightCoaster and @CA1543’s kids!! <:-P <:-P
And DECA congrats, too!
@socalmom007 The UCSB -> SLO commute is very doable (and pretty). 90 minute drive. Or, I just checked and it is a 2 hour Amtrak ride.
=D> Wonderful news @rightcoaster, @CA1543 and @ynotgo!
