It’s all freezing rain here in Central NJ. But the wind is blowing. Fingers crossed the power stays on!
Best of luck to those waiting for Pi Day news at Tau time!!!
So far 3 inches of snow here in Upstate NY. Snow day for us and we had 2 wind days last week. I just finished making everyone breakfast:)
I have the late shift today, 1 to 9 p.m., so insomnia and a 4 a.m. bedtime shouldn’t have been an issue. Then my
M-I-L called at 7:30 because she couldn’t reach D15; I had to take D17 to school (her car is dead); and when I texted H to find out why our dog was at home instead of across town at her grooming appointment, he told me he forgot and could I take her? Sure – so off I went on my second trip into what was supposed to be “occasional light snow” today but looks more like a freaking white-out-blizzard. I think it’s Monday, Part II.
@HappyGoLucky2017 I grew up in Southeastern PA and remember - there being a lot of walkers, myself included. PA tends to have a lot of heavily populated neighborhoods/blocks surrounding schools as well as sidewalks everywhere. In Rural New England, at least in Central MA where I am, we have very few sidewalks unless you are in the center of a town - so most of our children ride the bus to school. Cities are a little different here.
It’s snowing pretty hard in the western burbs of Boston area today. Kind of windy too. Fortunately it’s a light snow so far, nothing heavy or wet yet.
We were thinking of going up to the mountains yesterday but the storm is supposed to bring a lot of wind and that’s not good for chair lift operations. Could be epic on weds. though. Unfortunately need to stick around until the weekend.
Kids are just straight up chilling and relaxing, still in pjs.
Happy Pi day to all and good luck to those awaiting decisions.
At S’s school, they have a Pi reciting contest, a Pi(e) eating contest, and a Pi(e) baking contest. Then they have a Pi celebration by eating Pie that the parents bring in. All of this occurs during lunch break. Any one else with kids at a geeky school? (No snow here BTW.)
No school and no pie here on pi-day
QOTD: Today seems like a good day to ask what is your favorite kind of pie?
I’ll go with cherry, boysenberry, and pumpkin (with lots of whip cream on the pumpkin pie)
QOTD. My wife and son17 love pie. Me, I’m so so on pie. I’d take pecan pie, followed by key lime if I had to eat it.
I’d need a gluten free crust these days to eat any pie.
I pretty much like any kind of pie. No pi day celebrations here. I find the ides of March a bit more interesting. A few school responses due tomorrow, I wonder if I should beware…
QOTD: chocolate or banana cream with meringue, key lime, and peach.
QOTD: pizza pie
QOTD - Pecan, pumpkin, peanut butter, apple
Pumpkin is my favorite!
@RightCoaster - DH, D16 and I were planning to go up last Saturday to ski on Sunday and come home Monday. With the extreme cold Saturday and no fresh snow in Vermont, we opted to wait until Thursday night. We’ll ski Friday then come home Saturday. D16 goes back to school Sunday so we wanted to give her a last day at home before heading back.
QOTD Chocolate Pecan Pie (home made of course), then Apple, Cherry & Key Lime.
QOTD: Apple, blueberry, or cherry. I also like pumpkin a lot, but I’m the only one in the family who likes it, so don’t want to eat a whole 2pi of pie.
@Fishnlines29 South of Nick’s is a great option - high end Mexican food in a beautiful setting. Need a reservation.
QOTD: All pie is wonderful. Don’t have any makings in the house and am snowed in, but I think I will make a quiche for dinner tonight–egg pie!
