Parents of the HS Class of 2017 (Part 1)

My D initially received 24k Honors program merit from NEU but she had not provided her HSRP documentation when she did they upped it to 30k per year still the school is out of our range .She is a finalist for the Rodriguez scholarship at WASHU and if she receives full tuition it will be an option if not it will join the NFW pile.

@botcom you saw on the BU twitter that decisions would be out today?

@Cubanmom3 that is false. The BU decisions come out Saturday. BU confirmed it’s 8am Saturday morning.
The BU thread has people losing their minds over speculation news might come out today.

@Cubanmom3 Yes, it was all a misunderstanding and actually the decision will come out on Saturday.

@RightCoaster and @HiToWaMom that is what I thought but my D visited the BU thread and called me in a panic. All kinds of insanity about housing portal and trying to figure out if students got in. I generally disregard all that “noise” and just wait until she gets the email. Way to much stress otherwise

@Cubanmom3 I hope you guys can sleep tonight!

@snoozn One week is a fair amount of time in a professional environment. Deadlines are looming for everyone. I wouldn’t wait too long. Make a call. Have all your info handy. Keep it calm and cordial.

My daughter is apoplectic over UC Irvine results coming out today, no update for her yet. UC Irvine’s acceptance rate dropped from 37% last year to 25% this year, not terribly optimistic.

@snoozn a lot of schools are on spring break right now, and that includes the offices…

Holy cow–my D just got her acceptance to Mount Holyoke and was awarded the Trustee Scholarship (full tuition–almost $48,000/year!). We are thrilled and in shock!

@Cubanmom3 Saturday for BU. should have confirmed what a student posted on the BU thread before reposting here! I am following that thread for Trustees scholarship notifications. Trying to be a mail man stalker!

Congratulations @smcirish, some early St. Patrick’s Day “luck.”

My S got accepted in the Early Admission Program for K-State Veterinary College and that clinched it for that school. We finally have made a decision! Turned down some “better” colleges but this program is a great fit for him! Now hoping for a few more scholarships!

D17 got in at Mt Holyoke, too, and got the 21st Century Scholarship, but that still makes it unaffordable. (As someone else put it, too bad they charge 22nd century tuition!) No worries, though—it still feels good to her to have been accepted.

Congrats to @momocarly and @smcirish on acceptances! They sound like great opportunities <:-P

@botcom Thank you for the heads up on the BU releases. Looks like it’s still saturday morning but I will definitely be on the lookout tomorrow just in case. That BU thread has been intense the last couple of days.

Congrats! @dfbdfb That is some FA assist!
My daughter was accepted also at MHC with a Leadership Award and a Grant, but seems way to expensive at first look. Makes me a little afraid of what other colleges will cost when we finally see some FA allocations. The best we have so far is some Regents.

Congrats! @smcirish
That would make it impossible to say “no” to for us!

@smcirish – somewhere in a box in the attic, I may still have a Holyoke St Patrick’s Day road race tee. Your screen name photo and Mt Holyoke news made me think of it. CONGRATS!

@snoozn You said you wrote to admissions about increasing merit. Have you tried contacting the FA office? If they can’t help you maybe they can point you in the direction of who can? You may want to call FA and see if they are the place to send your email or if they can recommend who you should contact. I would imagine admissions is crazy these days and your email could go unnoticed for a while longer.
