Parents of the HS Class of 2017 (Part 1)

Can such a thread even be made in this specific sub-forum? Or would it have to be elsewhere, like the general Parents sub-forum?

@Motiv8tedmom23 Congratulations with DS’s Eagle! <:-P <:-P

If he wants to continue with scouting, we would love to have an additional Junior ASM in our troop. We have Venture crew too. I’m sure there are other troops in the area as well.
APO fraternity at CU-Boulder runs Merit Badge University in Spring and Fall, and they are always looking for volunteers to teach and help out.
Once an Eagle, always an Eagle! =D> =D>

Anyone with teens who like audiobooks,Audiobook Sync has listed their 2017 titles: http://www.audiobooksync.com

@thshadow count me in please.

@thshadow I asked the mod to create this thread and pin to the top in Parents forum. This thread so far has little traffic so I think we could re-purpose it to post outcomes.

I really like the format @eandesmom used here: http://talk.collegeconfidential.com/parents-forum/1871275-parents-of-the-hs-class-of-2017-3-0-to-3-4-gpa-p222.html
It’s arranged in alphabetical order by school, so you can get a sense for what your kid’s chances would be of admission and merit aid a specific school.

@NolaCAR @veehee @Fishnlines29 Thank you and we’ll make sure to get the letter out ASAP.

D is 10-0-1. I counted WashU Waitlisted as 0.

Proud of D’s speech at the swimming banquet about the journey being more paramount, instead of the time in the clock. She wasn’t prepared to speak, and the team chanted her name for her to speak. My girl has serious public speaking skills!! Bittersweet moment for us!! :x :((

Advance apologies, I might be violating well-known standards of conduct here.

The scholarship decisions are available on the USC(ali) portal.

Again, I apologize for this display.

@Dave_N That’s wonderful and now you must show us the coding to make gifs here or I will hunt you down and find you!

ok D got into American! (but no merit $). Got rejected from Emory, but that was an extreme reach. Would have bought a lottery ticket if she got in. Waiting for GW. With Elon giving some $ today, starting to make this interesting, but D has her heart set on being in DC. Just the $ which is holding us back.

@dave_n - Congrats!!! That’s yuge and bigly!

I hear you on the pull of DC, @sdl0625. My daughter desperately wants to live there, herself, but she’s also eminently practical, and figures she can defer that dream til sometime post-college, and with the money saved perhaps even afford it at that point!

@dfbdfb @sdl0625 Mine always saw herself in DC too. I keep reminding her that all of her schools have semesters in DC and there are always summer internships as well… After reading today, I started to put the numbers in my handy spreadsheet and some of the numbers are truly daunting. Only one school has really come through with excellent merit aid (and of course there is always UT Austin…) Fingers crossed as we wait on GW and Wake Forest and I think those are the last 2… PS I wish a) my D was more practical and b) I had put better constraints on what is reasonable…

@payn4ward Thank you, we are proud of his hard work to get here. I had in the back of my mind to check with you about opportunities with troops in the area. I know he definitely wants to stay involved in scouting in some capacity. I will be in touch with you.

Congratulations! @Dave_N <:-P <:-P =D>
Very appropriate post :)) =D>

@Dave_N Congratulations to you and your daughter! What a tremendous opportunity.

5-1-1 and all decisions out for us.
After mid December decisions, DS stopped applying. Said good enough. ~X(

Inspired by @Ynotgo, I looked back, but I missed posting on my birth year page, so I waited to post on my class page :))

Congrats @Dave_N!! Onward and upward <:-P <:-P <:-P :))

@Dave_N Congrats! FT and Stipend too?
