Parents of the HS Class of 2018 (Part 1)

Question for the group - S18 took the SAT at school on Tuesday April 11.

Our district switched from ACT to SAT this year so I have no idea when the scores are supposed to come out. When he checks his College Board account he has a message that says “Your April 11, 2017 test scores are in!” but down in the “My Test Scores” section, it says “You have no available scores”.

Did anyone else’s DC take the SAT on April 11? Any idea about scores?

DD’18 this morning after having finished her last AP test yesterday…

“I feel so much less stressed today, like I can actually breathe. I hadn’t really realized how stressed I was actually feeling.”

@jpc763 We are waiting for scores from the ACT state version to be announced (Ohio) from April 19.

As best I can nail down our guidance counselors, we will get paper reports mailed to our houses before they show up on line. They don’t know by when, though. It’s a mess. It’s the first year they’ve done it, so they are not quite sure either. That testing date doesn’t show up in her online account, bt the GC said it would eventually.

Glad I registered her for the June ACT anyway.

@jpc763 , the College Board site does not list an April 11 SAT. But the scores are generally available 30-31 days after.

@vistajay - I believe that is because this was a Tuesday in school test, not an open to the public test. Son’s GC has no idea when the scores are going to be available. Next SAT is June 3 if a retest is needed.

I thought the SAT was only offered either in March or May, and obviously earlier and later, but not April. Scores are usually released about 1 month after the test.

D18 is all done with AP’s. Yeh! Just a regular block day today.

My D18 is also done with APs for the year. Next week is ‘quite week’ the high school version of college dead week so not much going on, he has a research paper due in psych, a major lab to make up in chem and they are building an AM/FM radio in physics C for fun.

He has no finals the week after next but still has to show up for roll call and he needs to drive S20 to and from his finals so he’s going to spend finals week working on adulting - taking the car in to get an oil change, getting to bank to make a deposit, getting forms signed and register for DE classes both at high school and at CC and getting a haircut all without me!

@jpc763 My D did the school day SAT in April as well, although in a different state. Her test date was April 5. Her scores were available online beginning May 8, although the release was kind of glitchy. Have you tried calling College Board?

Even though AP testing is complete for D18, there are no quiet weeks over here. Much more work to do before and thru finals in June. And I believe D18 will also be studying for and taking a Subject Test on June 3rd, so theoretically she can be all done with testing before summer starts. Because it’s a busy summer. But it all depends on those SAT scores being released on June 8th. 8-|

@ShrimpBurrito - I have not called the College Board. Based on the “about a month” comments and your comments, I am expecting them to be available next week. If they are not, we will call.

Oh the irony. World History was D’s throwaway AP, yet she just texted that she “felt really good about it.” Way to end the AP season!

When DS signed up for 5 APs I always knew these couple of weeks would be tough, but it has been more crazy than I anticipated then. He took the ACT and SAT in March. There are also KY state testing requirements this month in US history and in writing. Final coming in his other non AP class. 4 of the 5 AP test were on four consecutive days this week. It is quite a gauntlet! Plus track workouts getting ready for the regional meet this Saturday. He is holding up remarkably well but I know he has to be ready for it to be over. The worst is now. He feels fairly good to great about the first three and is hopeful he will get 4 or better on all.

Best wishes to everyone’s kiddos who are testing, and I hope the needed respite is around the corner!

On the 2017 thread, a parent says his D Rickrolled the AP reader. She wrote out the lyrics to “Never Gonna Give You Up” for her Macroeconomics essay. :))

OK, so stats is done but no communication yet. Anyone hear anything?

DD said she wrote some Hamilton lyrics on her AP Physic FRQ. Her friend wrote a note to the grader, lol.

Apparently Stats question #6 was really hard and weighted heavily on the test. Oh well, it’s done.

How do they know it was weighted heavily @bearcatfan? D said it was long but not bad. I will ask her about question 6.

Her teacher said #6 of the extended response is always worth one-eighth of the entire test. I guess I’d call that weighted - that’s the term he used.

Ack! No pressure, kids! I’ll see what she says but I won’t talk to her for awhile I don’t think.

D18 took AP Stat last year. I thought all 6 FRQ’s were weighted the same. The AP Pass site has them all worth 4 points.
