Parents of the HS Class of 2018 (Part 1)

DD is on tap for a few (3, I think - High Point, Fordham-Rose Hill, Trinity U) EA decisions this Friday. One is for the school that should be an acceptance but since applying to, Dad has said “Not no, but heck no”. I suspect one will be a rejection and the other is a 50/50 shot. Need to get a scholarship app completed by Friday.

Still waiting on and still marginally in the game, Florida State, U of Florida and U of Colorado-Boulder. But, we are really just waiting on Clemson, UT (snowballs chance) and the reach school at this point.

I wonder if any of our kiddos will end up at the same schools. I guess I wouldn’t be surprised but there are so many schools and a lot of geographic diversity here.

This waiting thing is for the birds! ED decision comes Friday for us. Then again, I want time to stand still, so there’s that. ;

@labegg , Does Trinity usually announce on the 15th? Via email? Portal? DP Jr. “doesn’t think he has a Trinity Portal.”

@Kayak24
I think it is a certainty.

@kayak24 is Pitt a real possibility for your D? If so then we have one potential match haha.

@labegg, our son is waiting on Fordham as well. I think he may get in, but the chances of getting enough aid to keep it under the 30K threshold are almost nonexistent. The NPC put the cost at around 50K. The big question for us is whether Ithaca matches the scholarship with a grant. 15K in grant money and that’s probably where he goes. My wife and I are nervous about that because of the GPA requirement. Since he applied to the Park School of Communications at Ithaca, we didn’t think he had much of a chance. His safety, McDaniel, is definitely affordable; we also think it’s the best match for him. It’s his choice if more than one school is affordable, though.

@DavidPuddy Per the CC Trinity forum, kids should get an email notifying them of acceptance, and a snail mail should follow, with merit aid details. Last year EA acceptances came out Dec 9-10. D is watching her email closely today!

@AmyBeth68 , YES to Pitt still being a contender, but no if merit aid does not come through (as you understand).

Another Fordham EA applicant here too.

@Kayak24 I believe that the merit will come through big time for your D. There is no reason she wouldn’t get it with her stats!!! I’m just shocked it’s taking so long, but we’re in the same boat with UDel. I know my D’s stats are excellent for Del Merit…just waiting … and waiting. LOL. I am sure you’ll be hearing good news soon!

I think this is going to be a big week for acceptances. Fingers and toes crossed for all the CC 2018 kids!

Anybody have a Harvard SCEA kid? Looks like decisions come out tomorrow evening. (My kid did not apply there, btw.)

We are waiting on Trinity and Fordham this Fri, and I think Miami (FLA). Perhaps one or two more. Starting to lose track, LOL!

Waiting on Fordham EA here as well!

Good luck everyone! I hope everyone gets some good news this week. I am finding it hard to be productive as we wait for our first decisions this week.

We did get our Christmas photo done. Made me sad that S18 probably won’t be around to do one next year. Unless we all show up at his dorm…wouldn’t he just love that!! :))

I have a Harvard SCEA kid. Looks like we will know tomorrow. Not worried one way or another as it is a reach for everyone. :((

University of Denver announces EA decisions tonight at 7. At one point my d18 was really interested but at the moment - she thinks too much winter:) Still - hoping for an acceptance with merit.

D’s first EA is this Friday at 18:47CST. The next one isn’t until Jan 15.

@Clementine7624 Where did you get tonight at 7pm? I just see “week of December 11” on the DU website (admissions section).

@Momma2018 We finally got a family photo taken this weekend, too! Wasn’t going to do holiday cards this year. We took the photo for my MIL who was lamenting she didn’t have a recent one of us for her living room wall – but it came out good, so will use it in a card. That was my project yesterday (i.e. trying to stay productive, while productivity level low during this “waiting stage”); today I made banana bread, cleaned house, and am stringing lights on our porch… other projects in next few days (besides my part-time work) include scrapbooking, which I haven’t done in years, but have a book I’d like to finish before DD leaves the nest! Also just made a lunch/hike date with a friend…

:)) Really?

Yes. D got a text from the AO who interviewed her. It’s Lawrence U, and apparently that’s the year it was founded.
