@sushiritto I just saw your post about the info on the CA schools so I logged into our school’s Naviance page. From her school in the SF East Bay, applications are up at all seven of the CSU’s and UCs that I looked up, pretty significantly in fact. USC apps have increased as well. I’m becoming increasingly worried that she won’t be accepted at any of the CA schools. I keep looking for new financial safeties out of state that she can apply to RD, though she won’t want to hear it.
Congrats to your D on Trinity @ShrimpBurrito :-c
Congratulations to your D @zomaya99 and to your D on Trinity @ShrimpBurrito! Keep the good news coming!
@amominaz I can take comfort in the low number of applications in the safety schools he has yet to hear from.
Wow that is awesome. Congratulations to your dd and of course her parents as well.
@ShrimpBurrito what great news. That amount of merit money is awesome
@ShrimpBurrito Congrats!! So very exciting!
Best of luck to those moms, dads and kiddies waiting on MIT!
@bacmom Maybe my D’s school is an anomaly, because I fully expected them to all have large increases. D’s Class of 2018 has about 600+ kids at a large public HS in Silicon Valley area. If anything her class is bigger than 2017.
For example:
CP SLO 2017 111
CP SLO 2018 85.
UCSD & UCD 2017 120
UCSD & UCD 2018 108
UCSB 2017 144
UCSB 2018 116
Again, Cal and UCLA are within 1 and 3 apps of 2017.
I must have goofed when looking at USC (Trojans). I could have sworn it was much lower in 2018, but Naviance says that USC’s 2018 apps are up by 2 apps.
D and I are obviously worried too. We’re now thinking we should checked a couple more boxes on the CSU app.
loving the great news coming in. Comgratulations.
Brown just released decisions? Anyone? Bueller? :))
I had forgotten about Trinity. We looked at it early. If things don’t go well with tomorrow’s announcements, we may put in yet another application. UGHH!
DD’18 deferred at Boston College.
@sushiritto Ok, for comparison, here are the application numbers for the same schools you listed from my daughter’s school. Her class size is around 350 (don’t know the exact number). They are up across the board, though I do think her class size is a bit bigger than 2017.
CP SLO 2017 87
CP SLO 2018 137
UCSD 2017 63
UCSD 2018 88
UCD 2017 78
UCD 2018 107
UCSB 2017 85
UCSB 2018 121
UCLA 2017 60
UCLA 2018 96
UCB 2017 72
UCB 2018 83
@sushiritto My D only applied to SDSU, USC, and UCSD/UCI/UCSB/Cal. I’m quite nervous now. I wanted her to apply to U of A but she was insistent that she would rather go to community college and transfer than go there, so I said don’t waste my money on the app fee then. I hope she gets in somewhere.
Son applied to WSU, Colorado St., Colo. School of Mines and Montana State, and got accepted to all of them, so while we’re waiting on #1 choice SLO and Davis, I at least know he’s going somwehere.
S accepted to Northwestern! Yay! so we are done. I had spent the day making a list of additional match schools for him and am so glad we don’t need it.
Wow! Happy Thursday to you and yours @stemmmm!
Rats. I’m sorry, @glido. They deferred a ton of high stats kids it seems, including a friend’s S.
Ooh, congratulations @stemmmm! Wonderful!
WooHoo! @stemmmm \m/
Bummer @glido But I bet he gets in later.
@bacmom Wow those are dramatic increases. Your D’s class is nearly half the size of my D’s and the amount of apps are very close in most cases. My D is hoping for either Cal or UCLA, but with roughly 100,000 +/- apps, who knows what’ll happen.
@SC Anteater My D has a few OOS apps submitted already and she will be sending more out during winter break. The Stanford rejection has lit a fire under her, but with finals under way this week and next, there’s not much time. She’s hoping to complete 1-3 more apps this weekend, but she’s a “deadline girl.”
