Longtime lurker here. Just wanted to thank this group for saving my sanity with my first child. You all got me through the NM process and gave great ideas for potential colleges. My S18 is NMSF and is looking at computer engineering. He has been accepted to Iowa State University (super high acceptance rate) and University of Tulsa (free application, yay) with generous merit but not quite full tuition. We are US citizens but out of state everywhere, so are chasing merit or even instate tuition waivers at state schools. He has applied EA at his first choice UW-Madison, and also USCal, Marquette and Purdue. He would be eligible for AES at UTDallas but I can’t get him to submit the app.
Congratulations on all the acceptances these past few days! We were waiting to hear EA results this weekend from one of his top choices Case Western Reserve, but then got this email:
We expect Early Action and Early Decision I applicants will receive an email providing a link to the secure webpage with their admission status on Tuesday, Dec. 19. We will begin sending these email notifications around 8 p.m. EST. Students who applied for financial aid will also be able to see their financial aid package online at that time.

@melvin123 She had 4 tests/quizzes today. So last night for the 1st time she asked me to make her coffee, like the “grow hair on your chest” variety that I drink. I did, but when I woke up this morning, the coffee cup was still full. She’s working her behind off and has finals next week. So, she worked on one app a couple nights ago, but nothing is finished. She still has 7-8 apps on her list, but as you know, she’s a “deadline” girl.
While we’ve had just one decision so far, an acceptance seems so far off in the distance. Her confidence is at a low ebb right now with some of her friends getting acceptances. I’m sure she’ll get into some CSU and/or UC, so all isn’t completely lost. She’ll just have to wait until late March, I think. Long winter coming. :-??
@sushiritto it totally stinks that she has nothing right now, but we all know that she will end up someplace good. It’s just hard watching everyone else get in. April is a looong way off. I’m sure your D will get everything done over Christmas break. What about any schools that might get back to her sooner, to get her equilibrium back? And you know what? I’m annoyed at the SEA stuff. They should make it ED but allow her to apply early elsewhere. That way she’d have something else in hand now.
