Parents of the HS Class of 2019 (Part 1)

@homerdog Congrats on Bowdoin! Such a great school.

So - we have one commitment! S2 has turned down the place at NYU/Tisch/Clive Davis in favor of the Pennoni Honors accelerated BS/MBA program at Drexel. We have a Dragon in the house!! Just need S1 to decide between his top three - and we’ll be done. I am close to commitment - but maybe not the good kind. Lol

Congrats @Homerdog! A fabulous choice, from many fabulous possibilities!

After lots of waivering, S has made his final decision. The enrollment at his first chosen school has been cancelled, and he is now headed to UMass Amherst!

Congrats @me29034

Congrats @me29034 & @Britmom5 !!

@me29034 UMASS Amherst is my alma mater.

Congrats @me29034 ! UMass is one of S1’s top three. Maybe they’ll end up in the same place!

@homerdog , @me29034 & @Britmom5
CONGRATULATIONS!!!

Parents, a question for you. When I want to press the “not accept” button for universities, is it just a click of button or do I have to send a letter thanking for acceptance, but I am accepting offer from another university? Please help. Thank you

If they don’t have a button to decline, just let them figure it out when 1 May passes with no reply.

Of course, one of the colleges my D17 didn’t go to was still sending her reminders to register for a year and a half after she clicked the “no” button anyway, so they might not figure it out anyway.

Congrats to @homerdog, @me29034, and @Britmom5 for their kid’s great decisions!

@Embeechristmas

When my D16 and D19 declined schools, they just pressed the decline/not accept button. Some of the schools had a 2-3 question survey when you decline. Questions were like why did you decline (gave you choices to pick) and which college will you be attending.

My DDs didn’t feel the need to send a separate letter thanking a school for acceptance. However, if they were working very closely with an AO and got to know them well, then maybe that’s when I would have recommended my DDs write a separate email or letter thanking them for their help and offer of admission.

So to answer your question directly, it’s just a press of a button.

Congrats to @firstwavemom on the Tulane decision. I like it there, it’s a neat place.

Congrats to @Britmom5 on Drexel choice! One more to go now!

Congrats @me29034 on the choice to Umass! My son hesitantly turned down an opportunity to go there, it’s a good solid choice. I think Umass is on an upward trend. I think more kids from MA are seriously considering it nowadays, as many of their programs have a solid reputation, and the cost of regional private colleges has sky rocketed.

Congrats to @homerdog ’s son on his decision to enroll at Bowdoin! Welcome to the Nescac crew, I think there are quite a few of us sending kids to

Congrats @homerdog! You need a polar bear avatar!! :slight_smile:

It became official Friday night. Sweatshirts bought, deposits paid, other apps withdrawn. S19 to Macalester and D19 to Amherst. Just like that, we’ll be empty-nesters come fall!

Congratulations @EganAg !! But not the part about being empty nesters :cry:

@momzilla2D, hey, some of us are actually looking forward to the empty nester thing!?

(Still some years away, but waiting, waiting
)

Congrats to your 2 @EganAg ! My D really liked Mac when she visited and it was high up on her list for a while. But UCLA has won out. Your post made me laugh a little “Sweatshirts bought”
as soon as she pressed the button last Thursday to become a Bruin we hit that UCLA store up hard lol. I think my husband was most excited about a decision being made so he could get a new sweatshirt ; )

Congrats to @firstwavemom, @Britmom5, @me29034 and double congrats to @EganAg! All wonderful choices! So fun to hear the good news.

My H bought S19 a sweatshirt during Admitted Student Days at Bowdoin
and I just went to their online store and bought a few more things. I can’t tell you how awesome it is to just be able to tell people where he’s going when I’m asked. I feel like I can actually leave the house now that there’s a decision!
