Yes, @chb088 I agree. I think the font is the worst part of this whole thing. And the fact that it looks like some of the most experienced posters are rarely participating anymore.
And this had to happen just as our ‘20 kids are beginning their app cycle. Ugh.
I don’t know anything about web designs, but I would have thought it shouldn’t be that hard to make the background a bit less white and the font a bit darker? No?
The facebook group is very enjoyable and a lot easier to read. I have to agree this font on all this white background is really hard on my old eyes. I’m still checking in here but a lot less often.
It’s a lot of fun to match up faces to names, and to see people’s kids in action. And having administered a different secret group for about 6 years now, I feel fairly confident that it’s safe to post photos and video there.
Not leaving here, though!
So AP scores are in. D20 did pretty well with APUSH (5), APES (5), and AP Lang (4).
Will take 4 more AP classes senior year but don’t know how many exams she will take next May as college decisions will have already been made. Maybe if she wants college credit?
Daughter VPN to Texas. Wasn’t happy. APUSH (5) Stats(5) Lang (5) Physics 1 (2). Wasn’t going to get over a 3 in Physics. Best one to get the 2 on. Lost credit at many state schools but none at more difficult schools.
D20 got 5 on APUSH, 5 on AP Gov, and a 3 on English Language. Last year got a 5 on Psychology and a 4 on APES, so that’s a lot of credit if she stays in state.
D managed to VPN to get her scores from the middle of nowhere (about ten miles from the Europe/Asia virtual border) - all 5’s in CalcAB, Spanish, APUSH, and Seminar. Seminar was a shock to her (and to me) - she changed both research topics a week before the papers were due, so maybe they lowered their standards this year. I am just happy it keeps up her enthusiasm for AP Research next year - despite claims to the contrary, she learned so much about writing papers, citing sources, giving presentations, etc.
To continue with a positive note, how is everyone’s kid enjoying their summer?
AP scores are in here as well. Two 5s and a 3. The 3 is an AP that was offered for the first time at her HS this year and also taught by a first year AP teacher. We knew it was a risk, but at least she passed! We also looked at AP credit tables for the 5 schools she currently plans to apply to. I think she was surprised by how much variability there was in the school policies (cap on total credit, credit for only 1 English AP, only credit for a 5, no credit at all for some AP’s, etc). She thought I was a bit nuts when I asked her to look at the policies, but now she knows I did learn a thing or two when DS16 went through this process. Points for me!
