Sorry about the deferral. According to their FAQ, Penn admitted ~9.5% of deferred applicants during the 2021-22 admissions cycle. This was the most recent deferral admissions information I could find.
D24 got her ED acceptance to Smith College! Really happy and excited for her!
Hooray!!! Huge congratulations. Make sure you join the parent facebook groupâit is truly a lovely and supportive space!
Super happy (and relieved)!
Son got official acceptance ED1 to Johns Hopkins University
He is ecstatic.
Wow - congrats to him.
Congrats. Well, that took some of the COVID sting away. Hopefully, sheâll be able to celebrate. I love Northampton and the Pioneer Valley. It made me sad when DS turned down an offer at Amherst.
Sadly S24 rejected at Brown. Heâs taking it pretty hard - especially as two friends with lesser academics were accepted to Cornell (both legacy). Unfortunately as an unhooked student I knew his chances werenât good, but I donât think he really heard me on that. Itâs onward and upward. Congratulations to everyone who got good news over the past few days.
D24 got another acceptance today. This one is her safetyâŠWentworth Institute. Not a surprise, but good news nonetheless. She was awarded a scholarship that brings the cost down to be comparable with our instate public. She will find out later if she is awarded a tuition exchange scholarship there, which would bring the cost down quite a bit more. Iâm pretty sure sheâs not going to end up there, but it sure feels good to know sheâs going to have options (emphasis on the S in that word) to choose from.
Congratulations to everyone else getting good news today!
Ice cream and hugs.
Always!!
Onward and upward and hereâs to him landing where he is meant to be.
It will all work out. Itâs only challenging in the moment. Of course now weâre back to essay writingâboo.
Congrats on Smith, what a great outcome! I hope her twinâs outcome is just as successful!
Adding for data: Penn admissions 2027 lists 2420 enrolled (total for the four undergrad schools), and the Deans have mentioned target class of 2400(multiple sources spoke about being slightly overenrolled) each year. So if 8500ish applied ED this yead, and in the past when they listed it just under half the eventual was accepted through ED, then that is 1200/8500 (assumes no ED melt) or about 14%. Just an estimate but it is likely close. Mildly lower than the last time they released the %. Looks as though ED apps were up at Penn, Duke and othersâŠtough year.
May I ask what her ED school was?
She visited with her school and she liked it okay but it didnât excite her much. She was kind of ambivalent about it (and UCI).
S24 got rejected as well. Itâs not a surprised result but disappointing for all us us especially for S24. He is also taking it pretty hard right now⊠and he has a big AP Calc final on Monday that he needs to do well on. itâs going to be challenging to keep him focused.
All the early results are making me nervous. I wish my kid could go back and submit to a few more UC/CSU campuses!
Sorry to hear that. Hugs to your son.
Same to yours.
