I can understand him being excited about Stanford. I can see how it can be hard to let Stanford go especially for kid who grew up in Bay area. Good luck to him and hope he likes CMU so he will be happy if that where he chooses to go.
Itâs hard to get to from the Midwest as well!
S24 had the exact same ratio of outcomes as your kid, and he only applied to one reach based on stats.
Stanford doesnât waitlist that many. So he should be excited.
Hope you will end up with an affordable and suitable option.
I went to UGA and never went to a single game, so I might not be the right person to ask. Also, I have a kid at VanderbiltâŠwhen we went on the campus tour the guide told us how great it was to be in the SEC because of the chance to watch actual good football teams when they come to beat Vanderbilt
Your husband is right.
It doesnât mean you donât root for U of SC when they are playingâŠArkansas, etc. but if heâs a die hard UF fan - then heâs always gotta go UF!!
Itâs just how it is.
Sorry son.
Our journey ended today as expected with UMich WL and Stanford rejection. 7 acceptances, 5WL, 5 rejections. All but one acceptance from his EA round. In hindsight, after the deferrals in EA round, he should have gotten more feedback on his essays but he was lulled by all the good results. Oh well, a big learning moment for him and us.
S24 is shaking off the disappointment and focusing on the positives of the schools he has been accepted to. He has one more visit in April and then he should be ready to commit.
Thank you to everyone here for all your support, guidance and willingness to share your stories. It has been a less harrowing process knowing that there were many others in our boat. Hereâs to exciting journeys ahead!!
My Longhorn husband is very excited to go watch UT beat Vanderbilt in October!
We are definitely dealing with the rivalry issue. S24 is going to UVA and my hubby is a lifelong Hokie fan. He said that no way is he putting a UVA sticker on his car. Iâm happy to do the UVA gear. Hubby will have to get over it.
H and I are both Hokie alums. We met at tech and got married on campus. When both Ss were strongly considering attending UVA, I told them that I would proudly support them going there, but I would not wear any gear or put a sticker on my car unless it said UVA MOM!
(And we were both thankful each kid chose somewhere else lol)
The campus is truly stunning. He has been excited since visiting there, for very good reasons.
In fact he seems fine! I think he is truly appreciative of the opportunities he got. I also think he believes, perhaps with good reason, that the way he chose to spend his time in HS led to the path he is going to continue in college, and he is happy with that path.
Are you a student posing as a parent or a parent posing as a student?

In your previous post linked below you were claiming admittances to MIT and Cal Tech too. Did you forget to list those here? And how did Tufts switch from waitlist to RD acceptance so fast?
âAccepted: Caltech, MIT, UVA, McGill, Santa Cruz, Davisâ
Shouldnât you visit âMIT and Caltech and Stanfordâ before prematurely accepting Stanford? What happened in Yale RD?
Maybe your father has some advice? Or is he more of a Tufts person?
This is one for the College Confidential Hall of Fame.
In this previous post you claimed you were rejected by Williams and Swarthmore, you were waiting on Yale, and that you were waitlisted at UCLA and UCSB. What happened to those?

Waitlisted: UCLA, Tufts, Santa Barbara

Come on @YoLo2 , give @George_Orwell a break. When you get so much good news, itâs easy to forget to check your Yale portal. He can always log in next week to see if he got in.
Weâre ordering D24âs graduation announcements this morning. Let the crazy prom-and-awards season commence! She is our only child, so weâll also be dealing with impending empty-nest syndrome. I think it will be easier for me than for DHâIâm less in denial right now.
SorryâI missed this post when trying to catch up in a post-travel haze.
I am a little surprised at how decisive S24 has suddenly gotten, but I guess it makes sense. He said he wanted to wait for actual offers, he didnât say he wanted to wait long, and his point is basically: I really liked WUSTL and Carleton after visiting, and they seem like great fits, is there any reason I shouldnât just focus on them?
And aside from me not wanting to let go of all these other colleges I liked, and just my love of the process of visiting itselfâno, of course there is no good reason not to focus on those. Like, I tried to pitch a visit to Vassar (we never had a chance to visit), and he was like, Nah, I am good with Carleton being my LAC finalist. And I canât and really shouldnât argue with that, and the truth is I would just like to go visit Vassar!
But that time is overâfor him. D30, though, has no idea what is coming . . . .
Sounds great! In fact I am WAAAAY overdue to check out cocktail lists in Northfield (we didnât overnight when visiting).
