I swear if Margarita rolls her eyes one more time…
It should be an interesting finale! I’m excited to see what comes down the runway.

At this point, I’d prefer talking heads from the models over talking heads from Margarita.
@fireflyscout Oh please God no. Some of the models are fun but I can’t stand “The Naomi of Plus.” Cancel The Liris Show.
Finale Part 1 is tonight. I think it will be Ayana, Brandon and Kentaro. In last week’s episode, I think Margarita and Kenya neither one really faltered too much, so the judges couldn’t easily justify auf-ing one of them. Both Margarita and Kenya have made some great looks, but they can’t sustain it from one week to the next. I hope Brandon manages to make something that doesn’t have a “tail” of fabric hanging off it.
Tim’s face with the finding dead cat story cracked me up…
^^ Me. too! :))
I couldn’t tell if he said ‘dead cat’ or ‘dead cow’ but Tim’s look was priceless! Kentaro seemed to suddenly go crazy. First he’s talking dead cats and then tells Tim his inspiration is music (that piano piece was really sad) and then tells the judges a totally different story about his inspiration. Very strange.
I think it was cat. Can’t quite picture Kentaro digging a big enough hole to bury a dead cow.
Kentaro was the big surprise, with the dead cat, the melancholy music, the insecurity. I hope he has some beautiful outfits in his collection.
I wanted to wait until I saw Brandon’s two outfits, but it’s official–I hate all his designs. I think none of them are remotely wearable, and the dangling straps and random chunks of fabric look like high school art projects instead of clothing. Add some washed out flamingos, and I’m done. The small glimpse we’ve been given of his menswear reveals it’s equally silly. And he styles himself like a retro Hare Krishna. He seems like a genuinely sweet guy, but even if he wins, which is how things seem to be heading given all the gushing from the judges, I can’t see him having any meaningful career.
Kind of weird that Ayana had a water damage problem, since I can’t even imagine what the hurricane did to Margarita’s studio.
Am I remembering correctly that they used to have the designers show three looks for the last elimination? Two doesn’t seem like enough.
^^ two pieces wasnt enough to get a concept; you’re right.
My thoughts: *kentaro and the cat comment was so surreal! but i actually think he’s a good designer. I hope he can pull it together for NYC.
*Brandon’s pieces i liked the least of all; but i like him the best of the designers. His pieces all look the same color. *Kenya’s outfits: they never have intrigued or excited me; but i absolutely loved one part: the beaded pearls on some of the dresses. I would wear those. I just dont think her style is what NY fashion week is looking for.
*Margarita’s pants were pretty cool; the other outfit not so much. I’m glad she’s in; hoping things in Puerto Rico are ok. I might look her up and see how that affected her. I don’t think she’ll win it though.
Well 2 pieces of Brandon’s collection do give a pretty good idea of the concept of his collection! I think his is a little too cohesive.
I liked the one outfit of Ayana’s - the pants and jacket. But I thought the 2 dresses she wanted to show were absolutely hideous. One of the models seemed to really love the dresses through.
My daughter has made fun of me her whole life for having no fashion sense, and she is right, I guess… I loved Kenya and Kentaro’s choices, and hated Ayana’s – all of them, especially those ruffly dresses she ended up not showing.
I thought it was lame for Margarita to say she should go to fashion week because there are so many Latinos in the country now, because shouldn’t the clothing appeal to everyone? I did like her looks though, maybe because I liked the 80’s, ha ha.
I think what the judges like about Brandon is that his clothes are completely different from anything they’ve ever seen before, and I think I kind of get it. I love how he (and Kenya) make the bigger women look fabulous. It is hard to separate how genuinely nice of a guy he seems from his clothes!
I have rarely laughed out loud at anything on PR but last night I laughed twice – once at Tim’s face when Kentaro talked about the dead cat … and then when Kenya’s family was talking about her and Kenya explained why she kept things to herself. That was hilarious! I want to party with that family!
I thought the best was when Kentaro’s mother asked if Heidi was ‘that woman from England’ and Kentaro said No, she didn’t look like Princess Diana. That was a comment like my mother would make.
Have to agree that Brandon is toast. There is cohesive and there is 10 identical outfits. I didn’t like Ayana’s print fabrics or styles. I think Kentaro has some nice things in his collection, but worry the colors don’t all go together. I liked Margarita’s bomber jacket but none of the rest.
I don’t like the different sized models for a collection. I think the outfits that look good on a 10 don’t look good on a 0, and not all the prints look as good on people of different skin tones. They should let them pick their models before they design the collection.
I watch TV with the closed captioning on and can confirm that it was definitely a dead cat that inspired Kentaro’s composition. Agree that Tim Gunn’s reaction to that story was priceless. I too laughed out loud.
I found a spoiler site online that showed all of the collections at Fashion Week but it didn’t spoil who the winner was. To be honest, I couldn’t guess from looking at the clothes. Each designer had some that were beautiful and some that were hideous . @-) I was kind of surprised.
^^I saw that too. In those pictures are some ‘fakes’ as they said there were 6 designers showing at fashion week. I sure hope some of the pieces belong to the fake people and not to my favorite Kentaro.
A few years ago they had several of the eliminated designers create a collection to throw off the spoiler spies.
Okay I finally watched and I just CANNOT believe they sent Margarita to fashion week. Her stuff looks so cheap. Kentaro is so inconsistent. I feel bad for Kenya because I think she does great designs for women with curves. I like Ayana’s pieces, and I think there is definitely a market for them. My daughters have a couple of friends that cover up and I could see them in Ayana’s clothing.
What did I miss in that last episode? “3 of you will go to Fashion Week and 2 of you will be out” was the statement made the previous week as well in the opening of this week’s episode.
Along comes the runway of sneak peeks and…wait…what? 4 of you will go to Fashion Week and 1 of you will be out.
What happened there? Did I miss them change their minds?
I don’t really care who stays or who goes. If I had to pick a look to like I’d say Anya’s gray (silver?) pants and jacket. The awful paper bag pants and even worse unflattering crop top on Brandon’s (gorgeous) model was an embarrassment to her and his ability!
Oh well, other than the early drama with the twins the season (for the most part) was enjoyable and lacked backstabbing and terrible design.
