Very interesting! Thanks so much! This is the OOS figures then. For in-state the Trustee is 10k (full tuition) and the presidential is 5k. Thanks for the info on the OOS! I was curious!
Thats amazing for you! The Trustee probabally does maybe have a 3.0 but I can ask my son. Like your daughter it was a non-issue! Lol! We are In-State so the Trustee is full tuition. Purdue can be stingy Iāve heard but not for your family!!! AMAZING! Its been the best 4 years of my sonās life BY FAR! He would do it over and over again if he could!
Yeah I did FYE 1st and CS 2nd
TYSM im going to email them and see. I am fine with the rejection but last night I was SUPER worried that if I couldnāt get into Purdue, I probably wouldnāt be able to get into any of my harder schools but now I feel better about it so thanks
You can try appealing if this school is your top choice, I would say it is their loss. You have an amazing profile, it will all work out in the end.
If I remember correctly, last year, some of the honors acceptances came out with admission decisions, and some came a little later. They try to balance out the majors in the HC because it is supposed to be an interdisciplinary-focused program. There are other Living & Learning Communities with more narrow foci. Your students will have an opportunity to apply to those shortly after acceptance.
So just because you havenāt heard from the HC yet doesnāt mean thatās off the table.
Frankly tons of CS students want to be in honors because it is a lovely dorm right in the heart of campus and only two blocks from the CS building.
My son is a double major in AI and CS - Iād recommend it - quite a bit of overlap with CS and his math minor. Classes are mostly around cognitive psychology, ethics, philosophy of mind etc. My son intends to get his masters in AI so he likes it a lot.
Itās a very different university than Purdue obviously, but Valparaiso University in NW Indiana has an integrated business and engineering major.
Hi there, looks like you got a couple good responses. I will just add to it that yes, you just move along. My son (MechE/Sophomore) took calc again just because he wasnāt certain of his ācollegeā understanding of itā¦so while he did backtrack a bit, heās still completely on target for a 4-year degree. Turns out he did very well in it and all his first semester courses which was helpful for his GPA. Not the best to try to dig out of hole:-). Also, just a note to say that in the summer before freshman year, he had an hour one-on-one FYE advisor session in which they went through everything. It was so incredibly helpful. Purdue takes care of their engineers!
Looks like your son has some awesome choicesā¦Iām from Pittsburgh so of course love Pitt and Penn State. Good luck to him! Everything works out as it should I really believe!
Daughter, OOS accepted! Received the Presidential Scholarship ($10k)
3.75 U/3.9 W
28 ACT superscore
Hasnāt visited yet, but accepted to go check it out now that sheās in.
Upward trend in grades.
A couple of honors classes, 1 AP junior year and 4 this year ⦠all Aās 1st semester sr. year; sent 1st semester senior grades.
Large, competitive public HS
Cong. Which major?
Good for her! Would love to know the major for comparison with FYE merit (or lack there of ). Congrats
Sorry, I am the same person that originally posted (I had duplacte accounts set up by accident). My daughter applied as a business major (NOT engineering). I am sure merit awards are much more competitive for the engineering program applicants!
Does anyone know if thereās any benefit in applying for housing early, or anytime until the priority date is fine?
Thatās great to hear. Thanks for the insights!
Historically there has been no benefit to signing up early for housing. As long as you meet the deadlines you are ok with them. There is usually a lag in when your housing portal is active after you accept your offer (they used to say up to 2 days) so donāt wait until the last day.
I just got an invite to apply for the Stamps Program and Beering Scholarship. Anyone have suggestions on how to do well in the application/interview? I know I only likely got it because of the Trustee Scholarship I was awarded (I have a low SAT score and am majoring in Poli Sci [way less competitive] ). But, I would like to try my best to do well. Due to financial issues, having one of these would be a life saver for my education. If anyone has advice, please let me know!
Can someone help me understand the Indianapolis campus compared to the main campus? My daughterās deferral stated that if she is ready to switch her intended major to Indy, she might get her decision sooner. She applied FYE for BME.
The Indy campus is completely different atmosphere. Very small, not at all the college experience. The degree still holds its weight, but from what I have read on here, it isnāt the same
Same deferral letter here. My D25 (FYE applicant also) will not choose the Indianpolis campus. Would rather write an LOCI and hope for the best.
