Essays/LORs/Other
Essays are great.
LoRs are also pretty nice. Math LoR includes how I found a mathematical way of predicting the year on which a date lands on a specific weekday, Physics LoR includes my projects and how I created my own version of Biot-Savart Law for helical conductors.
G-Tech (EA)
U-M Ann Arbor (EA)
Purdue (EA)
These are the important ones.
Does Purdue give honors decision on the same day as the admission?
John Martinson Honors College decisions will be released by the end of February each year. Future First-Year Students - John Martinson Honors College - Purdue University
Nope. Honors decisions usually come a few weeks later.
This past year it was included with acceptance for my student.
It was for mine also 3 years ago, so it seems like it varies.
My daughter got her honors acceptance simultaneously with her offer of admission. That was the incoming class in fall 2022, so I donât know if anything has changed.
Does anyone know what time Purdue generally sends out EA decisions?
FWIW, It was around 5PM 3 years ago.
Website says 15 Jan 2024. Last year, for my child, it was released around 5 pm EST. Given the large number of admit offers that Purdue makes, it is possible that decisions get released over a time period. My child also received an email notifying them to check the admissions portal
Thanks! Feeling very nervous about this after hearing theyâll be admitting less students this year. Would love any insight anyone has to share! We are OOS for engineering.
Where was this publicized that they will be admitting fewer students this year? Getting nervous too.
They did over admit students for fall 2024 leading to housing issues. There are some articles like the one below on this subject.
They have to admit less; they literally have no where to put them. They went from 49K in 2022 to 51K in 2023 to 58K in 2024. My son attends and had had a GREAT experience but they have become so popular due to their strong programs and rankings plus being what (I think) is the best value in public schools that they misjudged the admissions process last year and kids are sleeping rafters and boiler rooms. The inn is full.
Amongst the many other benefits, this is a well run school (minus admissions forecasting!) that believes in meritocracy and avoides controversy and extremism. I really appreciate the midwest vibe (work hard, play hard).
I hope your kid gets the opportunity to experience i! I have another one waiting on a decision too so in the same boat.
Last year, I believe it was originally stated that EA results would come out on Jan 15 but it actually came out on Friday, Jan 12 at 1pm PST/4pm EST. Admission, honors college, and merit award results all came out at the same time (in a single letter).
Is anyone observing any portal astrology this year or is portal astrology discussion not allowed anymore?
Good luck to everyone waiting for Purdue EA results. We were in your shoes last year and now my daughter goes to Purdue. Go Boilermakers!
How is she enjoying so far? In state or OOS? What is she studying? How did she find the housing selection process for next year?
I watched this thread with interest last year after my D25 visited as a junior and applied EA in Oct. Now it is her turn to patiently wait for results. Feels like a long time comingâŠ
Oh wow, so we should keep an eye out on Friday just in case!
She is not fond of the location . For context, she is from SoCal so lots of things to do here compared to West Lafayette, and the weather here is much nicer. However, she knows that Purdue gives her the best value: quality education with low tuition, a merit award, acceptance to honors program, and all her APs were credited that she entered as a junior. She is scheduled to be done in 2.5 yrs total. She is currently doing Stat/Math.
About the housing selection, it was stressful waiting for lottery results. She was so stressed that we signed a lease to an apartment before the results came out. This was a big mistake as she got in and would have been able to select a single room in the honors building. Now that she is moving to off campus housing for next year, she will have a very minute chance of getting on campus housing for her last semester. That means we will probably waste half a year of rental fee if she is not able to sublease her apartment.
So yeah, Purdue is not perfect but for someone who doesnât mind sacrificing some things in exchange for an inexpensive, quality education then Purdue is great. The campus is also very safe, which puts me at ease .
did she able to skip the FYE with AP credits if she enter as a jr?
