Did ya notice???

I still feel proud to have earned most of my squares the old fashioned way. :)

Did ya notice???

I still feel proud to have earned most of my squares the old fashioned way. :)

There are going to be a lot of sad people. It was fun while it lasted.

booooooooooooo

Noooooooo. I loved the little green squares. Where did they go?!?

jym is going to be mad.

Thank God junior high is over!!!

jym is still the Queen! :)

It was kind of hard not being popular, but I’ve managed to carry on.

yes it did seem very junior high popular group

Oh, wow. For once I was NOT the last one picked for the team in gym class and now it’s over. Jeesh!

I expected it. I also thought gaming the system would have ended it sooner. Same thing happened on another board I frequent.

When you have a board with long time posters and start such a system it just isn’t practical. We know who is knowledgeable and don’t need anyone giving us a way to identify them other than post count and reputation.

That said, I enjoyed the game and got to know people I may not otherwise encountered.

The sneetches have spoken.

Sent from my DROID RAZR using CC

I, for one, welcome our new non-green overlords.

It’s an epidemic!

Thanks, NorthMinnesota. :D

And quite to the contrary, Oldfort, I stepped back from the greenie “timesuck” and turned the crown, robe, titles and sceptre over to others a while ago. Still popped in and interacted with some posters as I could, but nope, not mad in the least!!

The intention was to recognize our members for their contributions, but, as has been noted numerous times, the system dissolved into a ‘junior high’ game of sorts. Glad some of you enjoyed it while it lasted, but we’re going back to the drawing board. We’ve gotten some great ideas from members on what we should do (such as liking posts a la Facebook). Please continue to offer your ideas on how we can highlight the best content on CC.

For me, it was fun. I hated the idea, originally, since? What’s the point? We all know who posts what around here after a little bit, and there are like four recurring thematic debates.

But, after quitting for a day, I came back and joined the game. What the heck? It was fun, met some creative, witty people who might not join in on the “great debates.”

No regrets.

I didn’t get a lot of feedback–I think I was up to four squares–but I did kind of like seeing what things I had posted that other people appreciated.

For me it was kind of like Facebook’s like button. But way goofier. And not necessarily in a good way.

Yes, I think, as others have noted, the issue arises, if we are to take it seriously, of attaching the rep to a poster and not the post, the person and not the information.

I mean, I agree with a lot of what I post, but some of it is useless information, honestly. A lot of it is opinion.

I think, too, you could have an instance arise of a bunch of people liking the really idiotic, “nice move” posts, too.

Wit will always win out in this kind of thing, imho.

Totally agree.

What I would like to see is an increase in the number of PMs that can be kept from 50 to maybe at least 100. Some posters may prefer to comment about or discuss the merits of a post backchannel, and space is too limited with the current PM system. JMO.

Will anyone read my essay to beg CC to reinstate my prestigiosity?
