Historically top students (high CSU GPA) that are invited to apply to the Honors college, some OOS/International applicants and local SD students that participate in the Compact for success program have been admitted early. Although there are always other applicants that fit these categories which are not admitted until March.
For the Honors college, all applicants can apply even in not invited but the early admits have a priority deadline.
Unfortunately, SDSU admissions is not transparent on whom they admit early and the criteria.
Some SDSU decisions in today – my daughter got in 3.77 unweighted, 4.59 weighted - I don’t remember the CA GPA –sorry. Lots of volunteer (300 hours) and research (700 hours). We are OOS.
Right now it’s not affordable (and probably won’t be) – but still nice to have gotten in. Hope that bodes well for some of her colleges that provide more merit and need. (Her friend got the OOS scholarship -so we were hoping for that miracle to happen -haha)
She wanted me to post her stats for future applicants.
Congratulations to your daughter. Do you know what time the decision came in?
No change on our portal so looks like DS (in-state / Business-Finance major) will need to endure the suspense for another couple of months. That has been hard!
She saw a post on Tik-Toc where someone said they had gotten in. So my daughter checked around 1pm (Central Time) - and it was updated. She didn’t get an email.
2025 Decision Timeline
Fall 2025: Early admits starting December 17, 2024. Nursing admits February 27, 2025. March 4 admits posted. March 12, waitlists and some admits posted. Denials and some admits posted March 14.
2025 Waitlist: Admits Tuesday April 29, May 16, May 19. Wait list closed June 3.
SDSU has been posting mainly Transfer admits which is early for Transfers. I just saw a post for a Freshman film major admit about an hour ago so maybe some of the portfolio based majors are getting decisions.
OOS daughter admitted for nursing yesterday. We are pretty stunned. Since it seemed like such a long shot we have not done a visit yet. Her older brother lives and works in SD so we are familiar with the area itself.
CSU Capped Weighted GPA (found on CSU application with Maximum of 4.4):
Number of a-g courses taken 9-12th (Years/Semesters):
Number of UC approved Honors (CA HS’s only)/AP/IB or DE classes:
Intended Major:
Local/Non-local CA resident/OOS/International:
Honors College Invite: Yes/No
I have only seen some narrow specific categories so far: transfer students, nursing, and film. I think they haven’t really started rolling out in a broad way yet.
There was an early Freshman admit in December that was accepted for Kinesiology. Majority of decisions should be out for Freshman and Transfers in the next few weeks.
