Thanks, @songof6pence and @JKellynh17. We will certainly answer the phone if the call comes…and do a little dance :).

She got a rejection from Fordham yesterday and a waitlist on the academic program.

@amtc, thank you so much for the information. My D’s last HS school show closed Saturday and it hit her all over again that the BFA route probably isn’t going to happen this year. I would really like her to go to a school where she has the kinds of opportunities you describe. We are from the Mid-Atlantic, so I am pricing tickets to Moline and a rental car now for the visit in April. Your note made my day and I am looking forward to sharing it with my D.

bisouu, sorry to hear about Fordham. As I tell my D after rejections, it’s them who lost Has your D apply to NYU? That’s the only school we have not heard from yet.

@compadv My son graduated from UMich last year and he loved every minute that he was there. He is not a performer, he played on the rugby team and was a psych major. He is working now in DC for a couple years before he goes to business school to earn an MBA. My daughter who is a senior now is a big city girl and that is the only reason she did not apply to Michigan. The Michigan alumni network is vast. We are in California and we see and encounter Michigan alumni everywhere. I am a UCLA alum myself, and I admit that the Michigan alumni network is something special. There is nothing like going to the football games. Ann Arbor is a wonderful college town, a real “town and gown” relationship. I am so glad that your S has decided on Michigan. One of my D’s friends who graduated 2 yrs ago is an MT and she has loved every minute. Congrats on the decision, and GO BLUE!

I was born and raised in Ann Arbor and it is really a wonderful place to live. My first job was at the stadium, and there is nothing like game day in Ann Arbor. Good luck to your S compadv, he is going to have the time of his life!!

This might be what everyone needs to read to realize all of this stuff is nothing in comparison to what this mother is going through… Just heartbreaking!!! The mother is a long time poster so any of you may know of her… Apollo6.

We’ve booked a trip back to Chicago. D is still very interested in Northern Illinois’s program, particularly the semester abroad at the Moscow theatre school. Northern is about an hour west of Chicago, and what I remember from the first visit is a lot of cornfields. I hope I can find something amusing to do while she’s observing class.
We still need to hear from Purchase which I know is unlikely at this point, and Syracuse. I really hope that comes this Friday and not next Friday.

@entertainersmom @jkellynh17 and @sherryjane73 Thank you so much for the encouragement. He committed to Michigan yesterday…didn’t even want to wait to hear from the last two schools. It is a perfect fit for him. Go Blue!!

@bissou. Hope your visit at Drew goes well. There are so many great theatre programs out there. Success comes from talent and hard work not a degree from a particular school.

Bissou, I have a good friend who was very much encouraging me to have my S apply to Drew. Her mother lives nearby and attends many of the theater performances and is always very impressed. This is a family that sees a lot of theater in NYC, on and off Broadway, so I value their opinion.

My S is tech and their program wasn’t going to work for him, but it sounds like a wonderful option for an acting student.

Just arrived at Drew from NYC. Easy 45 min train ride. Campus is quaint and picturesque. My daughter was greeted by a student from the acting class she will be sitting in on. I am staying indoors as the wind howls outside. I am such a Southern California gal.
