Are we done trying to convince the OP that LACs are beyond their reach? I’d take a look at Oberlin as a possible match; Bard as a possible safety; Wesleyan as another reach (but with an EDII option in case things go south with Pomona.) All three offer opportunities for both neuroscience and jazz vocalization at the small college, undergraduate level.
I don’t think LACs are totally out of reach if the OP doesn’t get into Pomona, because of the costs, any university out of state or even a private one in CA could make the colleges unaffordable. This has been pointed by many others in these pre-med threads. And given that medical schools in CA will favor in-state, the public ones here make a lot more sense, imo. You can still leave the state for undergrad and be considered a resident
The top-2 med schools for Pomona graduates enrolling are UCLA and UCSF, so going undergrad there and a UC for med school should be the initial plan. If Pomona doesn’t work out, the OP can apply to the LACs suggested, maybe even one of the 5Cs or one like St. Mary’s.
Please avoid digressing into dialogue about pros and cons of small versus large, etc… Several posts removed. If someone would like to start a new thread on that topic, feel free. Thanks for your cooperation.
