How do you sign on your application electronically???

^ You don’t. Clicking on the submit button is effectively the same as signing on the paper.

rofling here.

^ I see you are very bored =p How is Mudd?

hi i have some questions

first, can someone explain to me how to fill in the commonapp form? I mean I get confused among all those midyear report, final report, secondary report… which one counts as prelim? which one counts as Olvl? which as promos?
and some of those have another part for counselor/secondary teacher to fill in. so does that mean another type of recommendation?

2nd, do we have to fill in the commonapp international student supplement form (i remember there is something like that)

3rd, how are you guys gonna file in all the documents? i mean which type of envelope (A4/A5?)? should we make it nice and presentable?

and 4th: how are you guys gonna send in all the documents? singpost? fedex? ups?

Hey, erm, for those who submitted a CV, how long was yours? The typical advice seems to be that it should not exceed 2 pages, and just contain a list of your most outstanding achievements, but the one I got from a friend was really long and listed everything including listing out all her PSLE grades, etc. etc.
Is that the way to go, or is less = more?

that should not be the way

themerlion, hermann: haha if you guys are so negative about army before enlisting, wait till you get to tekong!

kthanksbye: yeah trust frank on this. just clicking “submit” will suffice.

fiona_: rofl at a girl rofl-ing at poor victims of conscription from the comfort of her dorm in CA.

sputnikmuffin: aim to be concise, yet sufficiently descriptive at the same time. more =/= good

thanks!
Descriptive as in… do I need to elaborate on the activity? My friend had a brief description for each activity, around 1-2 lines to describe her role and the activity itself.
Or would simply writing something like ‘participant’ or ‘organizing committee’ suffice?

^ Be creative. Maybe make a table with columns like “activity”, “role”, “description”. 2 lines on each activity would be more than enough.

sputnik, if ur teacher can write about it in his/her recc. then it will honestly be more striking. u dont want them to get lost in nonsense info like psle etc… just clear and sharp important points condensed will do. add.info might not always help and colleges like Columbia explicitly discourage it.

btw, is it advised to act big in tekong (like hey look at me im from the top sch. in singapore) - cause im in debate and it has screwed my ego. or is it advised to just shut the hell up and go with the flow.

thanks themerlion! So do you think stuff like ‘Leader in my competition team. Emerged as Top 10 out of over 400 participating teams.’ is kind of excessive? I do think so, but it’s really the problem of trying to explain everything with as little words as possible. :/

anyway, if I were to weigh in on the tekong issue, I imagine I would feel like punching anyone who tries to ‘act big’, especially through bragging about education because nobody likes to hear about how superior you are, especially in the army where I highly doubt a high class education can save your a**.
But then again, I am a girl and obviously very bored here, so just take whatever I say with a pinch of salt because I am obviously not a qualified commenter.

themerlion: NO, just act dumb and shut up everywhere in army (unless you want to be an officer, in which case keep wayang-ing). you’ll find out soon enough when you give up your pink ic and officially embark on your journey as an utter lowlife.

Don’t be the first, don’t be the last, don’t volunteer for anything. Basically shut up and be invisible for the most parts.

can you guys pls help answer my questions? :((

ok well so i sweet talked the doctor into giving me pesc9l2 for a minor back problem. being a minority (and having a non-singaporean/non-asian accent) would probably suck a little to begin with im guessing (for the most part this hasnt been a problem in an elite school but im scared to be back in the local populace which my school is isolated from a good deal).

i dont think pesC can be officer one. just trying to make the best out of my slack status. hopefully a decent admin job that wont kill my brain cells before college is all i can ask for. btw all my moslem friends (indians and malay) and a fair number of them - got into SCDF and SPF. Is this supposed to be a coincidence?

You should ask your seniors or your teachers who are in charge of US university applications. Each JC will have different policies regarding this anyway.

Yes.

C-4 envelope preferably. Some schools don’t want your forms stapled or folded as they will be scanned into a computer.

SingPost. If they lose anything, then the second time round I would use Fedex/DHL/UPS.

Well, be prepared for a cultural shock when you step foot into Tekong - you will see people from all strata of society. PES C companies are even more “diverse” than PES A/B companies due to all PES C individuals (whatever your educational level, etc…) gathering on Tekong instead of being sent to one of the Infantry/Armoured Regiments directly. People with tattoos all over the place, ex/current gangsters, people your age but married with a kid, etc… all sorts of interesting characters.

The reason why you don’t “talk big” is that most of these people don’t give a rat’s ass about whether you are the top student in HC or RI or not. If they really don’t like you, they will beat you up (or have a blanket party, as it were). Sure, they might get punished, they might even go to DB, but in the end, you still got beaten up. On the other hand though, if you gain their trust, they can be some of the most loyal people around.

Officially, it is. Unofficially…

on singpost, i used register post to send my ed materials to columbia and it says online that the package has been sent so yeah.

lol i assume ur joking haha who gets married at 18 lol. this aint some 3rd world country yo. and yeah i can imagine tatoos, but how do u go to school and hide it under ur uniform. wont ur teachers be mad? and i thought gangsterism is illegal in singapore. never seen any actually from where i am.
