Oh… Well, should I have stated ‘massive partying after ORD’ instead of ‘j4’ then?

hahaha…more of massive job hunting after ORD…its terrible with the current situation that even part timers are having a hell of a prob trying to get a temp placing…and nope, not done wif NS just yet. still in the system…my SATs are this sat (haha, pun not intended) wish me luck…

nadash: yeah, but most of the comments i get are regarding its music/non science based programs…i think way fewer for science…tho they did have a nobel laureate for chemistry/physics…

get in first and then we’ll talk.

hello all! anyone watching chelsea vs arsenal?

UChicago is limited to only art&sciences for undergrad. And I think it’s harder to get into NU than UChicago.

Hi BearCub! Good morning! :)

roll eyes do ur replies always have to be this cryptic?

do your questions always have to be so utterly pointless? if you’re going to apply to both NU and UChicago, what is the whole point of asking which one is better as if you’re enjoying the luxury of that dilemma now? go work on your applications, seriously. ask these questions in april if you’re eligible to. the last time I checked, college applications don’t ask for daydreams.

also, I’m surprised that you seem to be still intent on applying for financial aid from NU UChicago and Cornell. have you understood what we’ve told you about getting financial aid from them? You’re not getting any.

cant a guy just ask out of curiousity? what basis do u have for asserting that other people’s aims are purely daydreams? is it all that hard for u to be civil tongued? FYI, i did not state any where of late about continuing to pursue those colleges via financial aid so pls dont jump to conclusions. If u’re just frosty about earlier comments that i made (which would probably include people like u) and are still touchy about it, u can always get to the point in the inbox provided for all users and not spread ur sarcasm and idea that only people with bags of As need to apply for these unis. Have u gone to NS yet? It gives those with attitude problems a reality check.

If you want to ask out of curiosity, you’d be better creating a separate topic in College Admissions, or the college subforums for NU/UChig.

It’d be useful if you stated what you are planning so we can give you relevant advice.

Um… Frosty implies we actually care enough to be not-nice.

Yes, Screw has gone to NS. He’s same age as you.

Nope, not that only people with bags of As, just that people who have actually done something, achieved something, not slack around and lacklustrely perform in CCAs.

Aw, be nice guys.

Though, I gotta agree about the FA–it’s impossible. Try Amherst? =) It has the same “feel” as northwestern, according to some.

I know of a couple people who got into Cornell with finaid, so it’s not really impossible. But you really only have a shot at it if Cornell is your realistic ultimate safety (i.e. you will probably end up at MIT or Stanford even if Cornell gives you money). So yeah for most of us it’s virtually impossible. I’ll probably say the same for NU and Chicago, especially the latter since Singaporeans flock there in hordes every year. Try the LACs? =)

Gooooood morning!

please fiona, i did get As, albeit only 3. and no, i have a good cca record (got an award for it) and achieved other external academic awards. what makes u (or others for that matter) think that i didnt? it may seem to u that im a bum, well, im not. when i said i didnt get A throughout, i meant that i didnt sail thru with them since i was young. i know how competitive it is in the application process and in school exams and just didnt like the feel. so my apologies again if i’ve somehow offended u. however, my stand was and still is this: must all top students be that snobbish? I had been at the top too. sweeped almost all the awards up for grabs for the ceremony but everyone still knew that im still just a simple guy. my rival on the other hand, is notorious for being a perfect i-know-it-all hence my utter disdain for such people. and please, im sure u and screw would have already known that i had already apologised in my previous posts. or do u need an apology for the misunderstanding in upfront statements?
fine.
IM SORRY for the misunderstanding. Now can we please get back to trying to help here? like i said earlier, im comparing both of the unis in terms of their science programs. again, i state that im only getting word of NWU’s music/non science programs while chicago’s biz and econs are more well heard. hence my question.

FYI, you don’t have to have straight As to get into HYPSM. This is the beauty of American universities, they don’t just look at the grades. Unlike Singaporean universities where we have clear cut of who can make it and who can never make it.
For Princeton, they accepted 4% of those people who applied with 3.5 HS GPA. This is pretty high after accounting the overall acceptance rate which was below 10%.

Oh, btw…good evening Valour!!!

hmm…i suppose their ECs must have been spectacular, right? anyways, where r u headed to?

Well, you just have to show that you’re unique. It can be by unique CCA, or unique race, or even unique affiliation. I’m not saying this is true, but our PM had that unique affiliation when he applied to Harvard.
Anyway, I’m already in US now. I don’t really know if you ever heard of my university, but it is called WashU in st. louis.

Sorry oceanwave.

Perhaps you might get a better response if you posted this in a more general forum (the college subforums or College Admissions?)

Well, it depends. I mean, if he wants to get view points from fellow Singaporeans…I don’t think that’s gonna help. Just like let’s say Emory University…it’s a really well respected university in the US, but I think very few people have actually heard of it in Singapore.
