Okay, I have been super busy and on CC very little for the past month or so. Maybe I am way behind and you guys already talked about this, but I am getting SPELLCHECK in my posts now! Red underlines on misspelled words! Very exciting, thank you!!

It might be your browser.

I have the red underlines under words spelled incorrectly…but this is NOT new!

What browser are y’all using? (I chose that word to challenge spell checking)
I have been known to fumble on my typing skills and misspell important words. I’m on my iPad and not getting any helpful red squiggly lines wven unnder deliberettly misspelled words.

Firefox.

I find posting on an iPad to CC painful.

I think IE just upgraded and now has spell check.

Sigh. Yes but most of us have given up hovering over a laptop.

Firefox and Chrome have had spell check for several years. IE finally caught up huh?

I would use Firefox more, but it doesn’t play well with my security software. So I tend to toggle back and forth between it and IE depending on sites I’m using. and Chrome is just not my style at all.

I was getting the same thing and it turns out it was the Oyodomo malware. Very nasty and it took me hours to get rid of it. It is a very invasive bit of malware that hijacks your browser and can steal information. I finally got rid of it by using AdwCleaner.

Those links you are getting and windows opening up unexpectedly are signs your computer is infected. I initially thought it was part of new ie but IT IS NOT!!!

No, this wasn’t malware; it was updates and extensions from Norton that FF didn’t support.

I’m using my iPad. If I type a word incorrectly, it will either auto correct (drives me nuts) orngiv gave me a squiggly like. Orngiv has a squiggly line right now on MY screen but not yours! If I go back to that word, I’ll either get choices of replacements or a note that no replacement can be found.

I do NOT have any viruses or the like!

I don’t have Norton. And now that I removed the malware i am no longer getting the red links or redirects. You can google it to see if you are having any of the symptoms. Not saying you are infected, but I was.

Of course this is just on my desktop. I didn’t notice as soon as I should have because I use my iPad so much.

Just to be clear, these are red words double underlined that are links, not the same as when a word is misspelled. I am just trying to be helpful here, this absolutely is not a normal feature, as well as pages opening up randomly.

Antivirus is the new bloatware.

I find Microsoft’s Free AntiMalware programs fine for my Windows desktop at home. I also use Ad-Block and Flashblock on Firefox. My office Windows desktop has McAfee Enterprise and that blocks everything, often including stuff that you want, and the performance drain on the system is noticeable. But that’s the price of security I guess.

Mine are NOT double underlined. I think CC has had this feature on the iPad application since it was launched.

I’m sorry if I wasn’t clear. If you do not have Internet Explorer, then it isn’t an issue. If you are using an iPad, you are not using IE. When I got the message for update to IE on my desktop is when I started having problems. That is one thing I love about the iPad, since all downloads come through the iStore, you don’t have to worry about crap getting through. Like now, my computer doesn’t like the word iPad, so there is a single red squiggle, totally normal, at least for me, thank goodness for spell check.
