It looks like there is a decent critical mass for architecture here. 
Syracuse is pretty tight lipped with statistics. Virginia Tech is exactly the opposite and have a pretty comparable program (in both size and reputation).

You can mess around with the demographic and other information with that tool to get an idea what acceptance rate is at VT. Where it probably differs the most between VT and Syracuse though is going to be acceptance by OOS/In-State (Syracuse going to take a higher % OOS than VT does).

Still not seeing the 8.5% acceptance rate for Newhouse. Just see that there were 5,000 applicants for 425 spots. It doesn’t say how many were admitted. Just that there are 425 spots.

This is pre covid… rates must have changed drastically since then.
I don’t have my notes from an admissions session that the B.Arch program did last fall, but my back of the envelope math suggested that the admission rate for the program is about 20%. This was based on the number of applications they indicated they received plus my best guess at a yield rate.
The caveat to those numbers is that the folks from SU indicated they received a fair number of applications without portfolios, so those folks were automatically rejected as I recall. So among those submitting portfolios the percentage would be higher I think.

So, the number of applicants can be estimated as: 150 / 20% / 40%, where 40% is the estimated yield rate of this highly desired B.Arch program. That is around 2000 applicants each year.
