If we have six tabs this morning, AIS still says “considered”, Major now says “Blinn Team”— is it time to get housing or do we wait?
@papimama501 There is not an admissions agreement for Economics with Blinn Team but that does not mean that one cannot take the courses necessary for any other major. They can. Just follow the transfer course sheet for Economics. This is the 2018-2019 one. The 2019-2020 wont be published until the semester is over. I don’t know when, you will have to keep checking.

Auto and academic admits undergo holistic review for the major. This year, we saw the auto and academic admits that were deferred to January decisions, even though they applied for the Early Decision date, not be admitted to the university until they received their admissions decision. There is a wait for them too sometimes.
If A&M didn’t have so many pathways to admissions, this process would go a lot faster. Like UT, you would be in or you would be out, period. No re evaluation for other offers.
Could someone who has been offered full admission or blenn team for engineering share their credentials so I can compare. I am still waiting to hear anything.
Rank: second quarter
Act: 33 (math 35)
Applied 7/3/18
Gpa: 3.557 unweighted

During Gateway, they take a core curriculum class, like English, History, Government, Fine Arts, Life and Physical Science, etc. They will take 2 three credit courses. They are then placed into General Studies, where students are placed for 1 semester, while they take courses towards a major they want to get into. It is not guaranteed to get into that major. It is like a transition area student go to when they are changing majors and they must satisfy some prerequisites to get into the new major from the old one. It is not an automatic or guaranteed process, especially for highly impacted majors- those that are very competitive for entry and have limited seats.
The path to Mays is very difficult. Only 100 internal transfer a year. Here is the change of curriculum for Mays he would have to satisfy.

See if he would be interested in Statistics. It is a new major at A&M. A friends son is in this major and it is a tight nit group. https://www.stat.tamu.edu/academics/major/
I have been following this thread for a while now and now I am getting worried that I might not even get Blinn Team.
Date Applied: 10/25
Application: Complete and In Review
Review Admit
Major: Sociology
SAT: 1220 (I only took it once and never took the ACT)
Rank: 1Q
GPA: around 101
I have been in so many clubs throughout high school and varsity softball (2 yrs) captain my junior year, and have volunteer hours. I also took all the honors and ap classes I could throughout hs.
I was wondering if checking off “I do not know at this time” for BlinnTeam would affect my chances of getting it?
I just want to say how lucky you are to have a program like Blinn Team at TAMU.
We have nothing like this in CA and you are either in a UC, or you are out! So many denials of really excellent students because of this.
My daughter didn’t apply to any as a result.
I can’t imagine, for example, being able to live on campus at UCLA, do all the things except NCAA sports, and then take major preparatory classes at the local jc that basically cuts your tuition in half!
My daughter was offered Blinn Team at TAMU and I am now seeing what a blessing this is esp. as an OOS student!
Anyway my 2cents!
@aggiek0829 i had your exact same stats for the same major and i received full admission in january. good luck!!!
I have been talking to my son about Full Admisson, Blinn, and Gateway. He knows his shot at full admission is close to nil but would be super excited if he is accepted to Blinn after reading about it. He wants to tell everyone he is an Aggie !! so fingers still crossed.
I’ve posted this before, but stats (went up a tiny bit in Jan) for @Thelma2 and @AggieMomhelp:
Applied: 9/18
Application: Still in Review
Major/College of Choice: 1. Mays 2. Econ
Class Rank: Top 16%
SAT (with Sub Scores): 1310 - 640R/670M
UW GPA: 3.672
W GPA: 95.67/100 (grading scale for AP/DC at my school)
Lots of ECs, AP classses, Vol hrs, NHS, Spanish NHS, etc. Based on what I’ve seen the past two days, not hopeful for any kind of Admit but hope this helps people applying next year. There are too many great kids and too few spots. Strive for Top 10 or Academic Admit if possible. Congrats to all the Review Admits and Blinn TEAM decisions.
You guys have been so busy this morning. = )
I think everyone’s been answered so I’m just going to sit here and finish my coffee. Congrats again to all those that have received TEAM. Yes, once you have the 6 tabs, jump on the housing if you’re wanting to live on campus.
As for Gateway, the program was designed to support those students that have gone through hardships and or first gen college student that may not have the support from home. Over the years, it kind of got away from that but I understand they are trying to bring it back to it’s intended purpose but that it could take a year or so to truly get there. It is a wonderful program!
Again, if you haven’t heard, hang in there. Now back to my coffee! OH hey @thelma2 You are a rock star with links!
Yesterday my AIS showed me that I am considered for Team. This morning I got 6 tabs and my major got changed to blinn team does but it still says I am considered for Team, did I get blinn teamed?
Still waiting. Only school my S has yet to hear from. Accepted to UMass Amherst, FSU, UCF, Houston, Tulsa ($27k scholarship). Deferred from NC state. Denied at UF and Wake
Applied: 10/2
Application: Still in Review
Major/College of Choice: 1. Mays 2. Econ
Class Rank: Top 30%
ACT: 28
UW GPA: 3.7
W GPA: 4.2
@123bham yes silly. You got Team. Ais just takes a bit to update. Congrats!!!
@mcr976 I would say full admit is definitely out at this point based on the stats we’ve seen come through and the competitiveness of the class. Mays is out regardless. Filled up in Nov at the latest. Your son still has the possibility of TEAM. Those decisions are rolling out now. Look like he was some great options already though. Very exciting to have options!!!
@gigem2023 my son was offered and accepted full admission for engineering. He top 10% GPA 99.75 (uw) SAT 1310 (read 660 math 650) we are OOS We received offer in December.
@AggieMomhelp @Thelma2 I logged on with my son and we saw the six tabs, but when we go to housing or NSC links it tells us there was an error and to login in again. However, it doesn’t give the option to login and just sends me back to Howdy or AIS. Am I missing something? Is this happened to others?
@TxAg99 could just be a glitch. Keep trying today and if it doesn’t work, call residential housing to see if anyone is reporting this issue.
So, if they didn’t hear anything this morning, we should just not worry about checking until Monday? He received a nice scholarship at University of Arkansas yesterday and is admitted to the Walton School of Business so maybe he’ll just stick with that. I can learn to say ‘Sooo Wee Pig’, I guess. Haha! Congratulations on everyone getting their decisions! They will all be packing up and moving away before we know it.
@3TXBoys that’s great! Personally, I’d take the offer from UArk! Good business school, lots of opportunities, gorgeous campus! Congrats to your son.
@3txboys Congrats on Arkansas. I LOOOOVED that campus and town. Very collegiate feeling if that’s a thing. Have you guys toured it yet? My son got Walton and honors and I so wished he would have done it and got a different feel than TAMU (since he was born and raised here). BUT alas, he’s here. I never see him though, he’s definitely living the college life!
As for checking howdy over the weekend… what could it hurt? lol
