I believe that since my “Change major” button is gone, I will be receiving PSA. It is safe to say I am feeling disappointed and upset. For many reasons, but particularly because being the control freak I am, I can’t handle the thought of all of my “plans” slipping from my grasp. One question though- I would much prefer to go to Blinn rather than a system school. Is it advisable to go straight blinn then transfer? Or is that not a good consideration?

Nationally and regionally ranked in sport, 2 yrs varsity wrestling, Lots of service hours, several academic awards. Not sure what LOR said since son waived with FERPA, I thought essay was outstanding (of course) but it was about me having a craniotomy and being diagnosed with aggressive brain cancer this past summer and him still going on his service trip to NOLA and how that helped him cope. Diagnosis was changed a month later with a 2nd opinion. Perhaps a somewhat unbelievable essay because it was honestly unbelievable living through it.
TAMU needs to change their academy offer process. A 2Q student (like me) should not be offered an academy before a 1Q student, solely based off test scores. A test score doesn’t show long-term achievement, which is what really matters. Now that I see all the 1st quarter applicants still waiting, I realize I was not deserving of an offer. TAMU seriously needs to change this for next year. They also need to adopt a holisitic review like UT, so the students with outstanding essays and ECs are admitted as well.

Going straight Blinn is definitely an option as is the PTA program which allows you to attend any community college or a combination thereof.
You will want to check to make sure that your major participates in the PTA program. You can do PTA at any community college, including Blinn.
If you go Blinn and want to transfer, you will follow the TAMU transfer Course Sheet for your major.
For transferring, you can attend any university/college or community village and you want to make sure you choose your classes in following the TAMU transfer course sheet.
@lerner234 Nonsense. You absolutely deserve admission. Review admits are reviewed holistically. My son has been accepted to other schools where kids were waitlisted or deferred with better stats. Congratulations!
For the PTA program, would I be offered the option of PTA or PSA?

Please understand, that those waiting or being offered PSA, are no less deserving of admissions. It’s a tough place to be in. If they were not cutting back on the freshman yield number, we would have seen a lot more offers being extended. The had nearly 2,000 more for class 2022 than 2020. Engineering has its own issues with its 25x25 growth and they seem to scramble to make adjustments each year.
My daughter’s change button major is disappeared too. So PSA is the on the way. I feel very upset. With her top 18% rank and SAT 1430, I couldn’t believe this what I got. Any suggestion if I do appeal? Another option, my daughter got scholarship from UT Dallas and UH. Which one is better option, go to UT Dallas/UH for one year to transfer or go PSA directly?

@nervoustamumommy I’ve made myself way too invested in this as well. As the decision process winds up, I’ve been trying to reflect on my involvement in this, and I’m still trying to figure it all out. Maybe I’m trying to distract myself from thinking about the eventuality of her leaving home. It’s my first time seeing a child off for college, so I know it’s going to be tough.
For those that applied directly to Blinn did you send to Blinn Bryan or Blinn Brenham? When I search for Blinn on College Board only Brenham comes up.

@cmehope totally right there with you. I have four kiddos, one graduated in 2017 and it was SO hard. I always tell everyone, invest in Kleenex their senior year! My oldest is at Blinn and this stress about getting accepted wasn’t there because she already knew she wanted to do the dental hygiene program at Blinn. Biggest stress with her is actually getting accepted into the actual hygiene program, it’s highly competitive and they don’t take very many students which is a whole other stress.
My daughter who’s about to graduate is my first to apply at a University. A&M is the only one she wants. Also, since we already have my oldest in a nice apartment there, they will be living together, which is very comforting for me (and them). Straight Blinn was always the plan ‘B’.
I spent so much time stressing about how things were going to play out, imagining every possible scenario. I’m embarrassed to admit, I’ve even dreamt of the senior photos with her banner ?
However, this made me realize- it’s ME obsessing here. Checking AIS over and over (I know, I know, I shouldn’t even have the password). She is going to be fine no matter what. Every single admit I watched go by on here, I was so happy for the student or parent but it was also very deflating. Another day, no answer. Repeat. I’ve kept myself up at night imaging and worried about what her reaction was going to be if it were a denial she received. However, ultimately, she did the work. She wrote the essay and poured her heart into it, not me. This is HER time in life. Not mine. This is HER future. Not mine. I realize we ALL mean well and just want the best for our kids and families, but my suggestion…don’t torture yourself. Whatever will be, will be. Speculating, reading over numbers and stats and talking to the ‘experts’ is going to change absolutely nothing. Sit back, enjoy all of the wonderful proud moments you’re about to have watching your child go walk across the stage to accept their diploma, and know that in four years, (if you’re lucky lol) you’ll be sitting back being proud watching them walk across yet another stage, getting yet another diploma, and you won’t even remember all of the time wasted over analyzing everything. Hello! After lurking on this thread for a while, I’ve finally decided to come and ask a question I’ve really been needing answered! I know that full admits are out, and I’m considering going to UTA for the fall 2019 semester until I have the credits to transfer to TAMU in the spring. I currently have 33 college credit hours from dual credit, and I am wondering if those credits-plus the ones from UTA, given that I decide to go that route- will transfer. I do not want to waste my time any longer than I have already.
UTA is about 20 minutes from me, and I’ve already been accepted. I would just like to know if anyone thinks what I’d like to do is possible, as far as dual credit and UTA credits go. TAMU is my dream school, and I’m upset about how admissions turned out, as I am literally 2 people from being top 10%, and have been accepted to Texas State, UTA, Baylor, and TCU. I would ultimately love to end up at TAMU. Can anyone tell me how transferring works with dual credit and credits received after high school graduation? Would they all transfer to TAMU in the end? Help!
P.S. Sorry this isn’t strictly TAMU related, but I know a lot of you really know about how TAMU works and could help me out!
My son received the Gateway offer this morning, and we’re in the process of submitting all the information required. He had already given up hope because he was top 25% and did not get full admission. Now, does this mean that scholarships will be scarce?
@etionneelyse IMO, the best thing to do is to contact an advisor within your major’s department at each school. They should be able to tell you what they will accept. Because what a university accepts, what a college within that university accepts and what that specific school or department accepts may vary widely.
Assume nothing and do your due diligence by going straight to the source.
