TAMU Class of 2023 - Admission Decisions/Discussion

@ParadiseAggie. If you look at Tarleton’s specific PSA page on their website it shows their Eligibility for PSA criteria - …this may help you? https://www.tarleton.edu/admissions/undergrads/psa.html.
Ironically I was just talking with one of their admissions advisors this afternoon about possible PSA route and she directed me to this link.

Got PSA with a 3.6 and a 28. Always thought TAMU was my dream school but decided a few months ago that I loved another school more so I’m glad to have my decision and finally comite to a different school. Congrats to everybody you worked really hard and thanks to the moms on here helping everyone through the process. You end up where u r supposed to! Good luck everybody!

@2xAggieMom Thanks for sharing this. Appreciate it.

Just heard I was offered PSA. I’m an OOS student I have a 3.9 GPA 83 out of 405 (very competitive high school) and a 1190 SAT.

@TMImomof2 I was just looking at the link @Scotsfi referenced above. It is the Tarleton page and it says you will be notified in 5-10 business days. (I would assume that all the schools are similar) It also says you will receive an email at the email address that A&M has on record for you.

I was offered PSA where can I see the system schools that I can be accepted to?

Good Luck to you @223hopeful Wishing you all the best!!

@rynetexas0301 you have to accept to see the schools offered and then select the school you want and submit. You should go read the PSA thread. Lots of info there

@2xAggieMom @Scotsfi
Thanks, that shed light. My son did not score high enough on the math portion of his SAT to be eligible for Tarleton as a PSA option. However, he is TAMUG bound in the fall, so we have a great plan…which will include a math tutor!

wait I am confused why is Tarleton a better choice than corpus christi? Or does it just depend on where you live?

@scoringduck Galveston Engineering is full admit. Why would you want to roll the dice and try to transfer?

@taylorv01 Tarleton is not “better” than Corpus. And neither is Corpus “better” than Tarleton. They each have their pluses and minus depending on what your are looking for. Only you can make that judgement. Do a little research and maybe visit the campuses.

OK, already answered . . . I just had to keep reading . . . LOL

@treytexag We thought PTA would be best but the Psychology advisor said that she recommends straight transfer for kids with AP and DC. That being said, my daughter’s stated major is BIMS but she plans to actually change it to Psychology BS. So you might get different advice from the advisor in a different major so I would call and talk to them directly. I tend to think it may make a difference based on what you are coming in with and competitive nature of the major.

If you appeal could they offer someone who was offered PSA, Blinn?

Received PSA tonight. While I am very upset and feeling defeated, I am moving forward. PTA seems to be what I would like to do. I am hoping to get in contact with an academic adviser tomorrow to schedule a meeting in regards to PTA, but wondered how I should go about that. (E.x. Call into the main department or try to figure out the Allied Health advisor, etc.)

My son got a PSA offer today and we are happy happy happy! Honestly, I think this could be a great thing for him. I promised stats when he got a decision:

When did you apply: Sept 9
When did you get UIN: Sept 14
Auto Admit/Academic Admit/Review: Review
Major/College of Choice: Recreation, Parks & Tourism Science, Ag
Class Rank: Q1
SAT: 1220 (640 Reading, 580 Math)
ACT: 27 (30 English, 23 Math, 31 Reading, Science 23, STEM 23)
ECs: Eagle Scout, lots of leadership training, HS tennis team

If your kiddo was offered PSA today, go check out the PSA thread.

Then click the link to Tarleton’s PSA FAQs. So much good info here that pertains to ANY PSA school. https://www.tarleton.edu/admissions/undergrads/psa.html

@stillhopeful581 You probably have this but here is the PTA requirements sheet. I thought it would have contact name/number but it only has an email. You could try to call the department and inquire as to who it would be.

@rynetexas0301 @aggielover13 If you search “appeal of admission decision” on the TAMU.edu sight, it says that you must have new information that was not presented in your first application. It states that it is rare to get or win an appeal but you should read the information on that page.

@rynetexas0301 I think you may be confused. There is Blinn TEAM and Blinn. Anyone can apply to Blinn-it is a community college with several locations.
I understand appeals are extremely difficult and very rare to get overturned.
