@alexxaudaro is your goal nursing? Allied health is the way to go for that.if it’s offered under PTA that would be my gut. It’s a very competitve major with lots of science minded students wanting nursing or med
@jonesfam5 Welcome to the BIMS club! I don’t think any of us thought or realized they would hold our applications to the VERY END! But the wait is almost over. Not sure on Corps but thinking that some of the PSA paths, if that is what is offered, have Corps on campus but I really don’t know how that works for PSA. There is always the possibility of Full Admission to McAllen however, I kind of doubt they have Corps due to the size of campus. Hopefully someone else can pipe in with more helpful information. Also, I would assume you could reach out the the Corps Advisor to ask for advice. Good Luck!
@AggieMomhelp yes my goal is nursing, so allied health would be the ideal way to go?
@AggieDreamin One of my son’s high school friends is doing the PSA at Tarleton and is in the Corps there. For what it’s worth- he likes it so much he’s considering staying.
@2xAggieMom Yours is probably the post I remembered seeing Thank you!
@jonesfam5 Check out possible options at Tarlington for PSA Corps!
I’m a little behind, but after your change of major button disappears does anyone know how long before we would hear the decision? Good luck to everyone, it’s been so stressful, hopefully we all know sooner rather than later.
@jonesfam5 Not 100% sure…but the last wave lost buttons on a Friday night and got decision on Monday evening. So if you exclude the weekend then it could be a 24 business turnaround. So maybe today or tomorrow. :-SS
Thank you @AggieDreamin
my daughter’s change major button disappeared, it was still there yesterday GOOD LUCK to all of us
@aponiventoy are you checking in AIS or through Howdy Manage Applications? The reason I ask is that the Howdy button went away yesterday and the AIS didn’t purge until today.
for everyone losing their change major buttons, you should take a peek at the current PSA thread going here:
reading along will help pass the time, give you an idea on what’s next etc.
@alexxaudaro Most of the students I know that are working to get into nursing school, went Allied Health at TAMU. Some then got into TAMU nursing and some got their ring and then went to UTMB nursing program. Others will graduate with Allied health and then apply to other nursing schools. But it seems to be the route they take first! Hope that helps!
@AggieDreamin AIS
@aponiventoy So your buttons probably started to disappear at the same time as the rest of the BIMS/PH group
Just wanted to update that my kid has decided to pass on PSA. They do not offer any majors that she is remotely interested in. She doesn’t want to attend a community college, and she wants to be a CPA and from all we have read, and heard from those at A&M directly, chances are not strong for transferring in to Mays.
She was accepted to Alabama back in the fall and is still considering that. But this week she applied to U of H and from what we see on their website, her scores should make her an automatic admit to both the college and the business school.
She had a sad night when the offer came through, but being the kid she is, she picked herself up and started considering her other options and life goes on.
@Thelma2 I know that you keep the stats for the forum. Thank you.
My son was offered Blinn-Team on 2/15. His initial reaction was to decline. He has since visited with a TAMU admission counselor, a Blinn counselor, and someone at Mays. He’s decided that this is the right choice for him.
Date Applied: November
Decision: Blinn-Team
Review Applicant
Major Applied: 1st choice: Business/2nd choice: Econ
Rank: 1Q (103/680)
GPA: 3.78 unweighted
SAT/ACT with Sub Scores: ACT 29 (English 28, Math 33, Reading 29, Science 27)
He volunteered for a summer before his junior year. He worked alongside TAMU students and professors. One of the professors wrote a glowing recommendation for him.
He and a couple of friends decided to raise money for teachers that lost all their supplies due to flooding. They hosted 4 events and raised a little over $60k.
I don’t know what the formula is. I just thought I’d list a couple of the things that may have made him stand out as this thread appears full of outstanding and deserving students.
For those with younger kids in school districts that have a 5.0 or 6.0 grade scale, I would recommend that they take advantage of the pass/fail options for 4.0 classes as these drag down their GPA’s for ranking purposes.
@Mommydoodle - @AggieMomhelp mentioned a Mays transfer thread that she recommended that would allow you to see some stats of those that got in. That being said, I couldn’t find it myself. @AggieMomhelp could you post the actual link to that forum?
@AggieDreamin A&M told us that tthere are 100 transfer spots available each year. That’s it. And that we should not do PSA in the hopes of transferring to Mays because that isn’t how it works. So we’re moving on.
I will also say that the teachers and counselors at her school were shocked with the kids who got PSA.
As I said, though, she has made peace and is moving on with her life.
@Mommydoodle UH Bauer Business is a great school! As is Alabama. Two TOTALLY different college campuses tho. It’s great she has strong options!
