TAMU Class of 2023 - Admission Decisions/Discussion

Yes the NSC is 2 days, they asked me when I registered if I wanted to stay on campus overnight or get a hotel room. It’s 3 days if you register for the pre-conference

@cannonmom Yes, NSC is a two day program. However, you want to make sure to attend Pre-conference day. This thread has a lot of info http://talk.collegeconfidential.com/texas-m-university/2125375-tamu-new-student-conference-and-registering-for-classes-p1.html

thanks!

@AggieMomAgain

Are you an Auto-admit or Academic Admit or Review Admit: Review

I’m an Early College High School student, so I wouldn’t have been able to get into A&M BIMS Program any other year except for this year! I submitted medical documents and proof of hardship at home.

Based on what I’ve seen so far, if you have any reason to appeal, you’ll probably be approved. Has anyone ever been denied an appeal?

Honestly, I’m not so sure. On the website, it said that appeals are not that commonly accepted. So this forum is a real wildcard! I’m very happy for all of us!
But when I went in for an appeal, he said it was good to have actual hard evidence to submit. He said that if somebody came in kicking and screaming demanding an appeal without viable cause, their case would be thrown out immediately. So as long as you had an actual reason, it looks like you would have a pretty good chance!

Does anybody know how long it takes for acceptance letters to come in after being accepted?

Congrats @ek2323 and @Txblondy Exciting? Whoop!

Just read down farther and saw yours @luckyaggie I am so doing the HAPPY DANCE for you right this minute! WHOOP! CONGRATULATIONS! I am beyond happy for you and PROUD. Good job. Welcome to AggieLand!

In a couple of days, the letter should be in your AIS under communications and then my letters. The packet can take a week and sometimes a couple. Just depends

@brichey In past years, most appeals are denied. The Admissions Officer that posts on TexAgs says they still are rare. One must present new and compelling information not presented originally and that took place before the Dec 1 deadline

@ek2323 Getting into Mays is extremely difficult. One practically needs near a 4.0 and other compelling attributes.The minimum to be considered is 3.5 but that wouldn’t be competitive. Only 100 transfers are taken and only for a fall semester and with at least 30 graded hours and no more than 60 hours, so fall for sophomore year would be the only opportunity. See #3 on this link https://mays.tamu.edu/undergraduate-enrollment-plan-2016-2018/

@Bass02 Sorry I missed your great news above!! Congratulations on the appeal win!

@brichey - Congrats that’s awesome…

@cannonmom we will be at the same NSC :smiley:

I remember reading about the pre-conference, but I don’t recall registering for it or even seeing how to. Any help on how find to that would be greatly appreciated.

@Txblondy : WHOOP!! :slight_smile: CONGRATULATIONS! So happy for all y’all!

Can you please post your daughter’s stats including dates of application, date and type of original admission offer, date of appeal, etc? And perhaps general info on what sort of situation you submitted for the appeal? That info might help someone on a future admission cycle.

This year was a BRUTAL year for acceptances at TAMU, I am so glad that many families on CC appealed the decision this year and were granted their appeal! This just proves the point that an appeal might work, you don’t know until you try. But if you DON’T TRY it WON’T work! :slight_smile:

Doing the HAPPY DANCE for all of the new AGGIES and the new AGGIE FAMILIES!!! Aggieland is an awesome place, I am so glad that your families will be Aggie families! Your students will have a wonderful time in Aggieland! It won’t always be easy, nothing worth having is easily obtained, but it will be wonderful in the long run. The Aggie diploma and Aggie ring are so valued in Texas.

Thelma posted this a couple of days ago, and it has great information!!

This late in the game, is it possible to have a good NSC date and a chance at getting on-campus housing? I talked to a friend recently with the same major as me and he told me that the only date available for him to change his NSC date to was August 20th !
