TAMU Transfer Fall 2019

Updating as I said I would. I ended the semester with a 4.0! All required courses are either completed with a grade or I have credit for them and BUSI 2371 is done. I can’t wait to apply for Mays. I’ll keep my application status updated as well into the new year.

I want to hear how yall’s semesters ended as well. Gig ‘em!

@excgunnar I am in the same boat. I have finished with a 4.0 and all required coursework including BUSI 2371. I am excited to apply to Mays, but I am not excited for the long wait for an answer on admissions! I’ll keep y’all updated through the application period. Good Luck and Gig 'em!

Applying for Agriculture Science with a 3.2 GPA and 37 credit hours. What are my chances?

@gigem21tamu You have well above the minimum GPA (2.5). Do you have the required courses? Ag Econ, Animal Science and or horticulture? They want to see you’ve taken ag classes in those 37 credits not just the basics. But with the GPA and if you have some of the reqs, then you should be fine!

Update: Was awarded a certificate of proficiency (CP) in management specialties leadership. A CP in small business management. as well as brought my GPA up to a 3.83. That and the rest if officially what I will be applying with.

I do have the required coursework for admission (Math). I’ve taken Animal Science and completed the class with an A and I’m taking horticulture this upcoming spring 2019. @AggieMomhelp

Alright so I’m a freshman right now and I just got my grades for the first semester and they were:
General Chem 1 - A
Gen Chem lab 1- A
Diff Calc (Math 151) - A
2306 Gov - A
Intro to Sociology- A
Freshman Seminar- A
So basically my gpa is a 4.0 but I have dual credit from high school which were US history two semesters that I got a B in both the semesters which bring my GPA down to a 3.71. I also talked to TAMU chem department and they said that they will look at my spring grades since I have General Chemistry 2 and Math 152 in progress. Also with Ap credits I have 33 credits. My first choice major is chemistry and second is psychology so I was wondering what my chances are?

Howdy, I’m planning to apply for a BS Psychology for the Fall 2019 term. I was curious on what my chances might be with a 3.75 GPA and 24 hours behind me. I talked to someone in the Psychology department and they said my GPA was good for their school, but I’m just curious about the average stats for transfers who get accepted into A&M with Psychology as their major. I am missing one required class for Psychology, but they said my decision will just be postponed until they get my spring credits. Does that mean I will be accepted based on my GPA right now or my GPA at the end of spring semester? I am hoping to have a 3.84 GPA by the end of the spring semester or at least keeping it at a 3.75. I know it will take longer to figure out if I get in, but it’ll be worth the wait if I get that acceptance letter!

@wonderlust1 I think that you have an excellent chance as well. With those ec’s I would apply to some of the private schools like tcu and smu just incase.

I am planning to transfer as a Electrical engineering major and I am wondering how are y’all submitting your resume. Are y’all just going to put your extracurriculars on apply Texas or are y’all going to mail your resume? Also how do you submit a reference letter as well?

Oh also, I am wondering if they even look at the optional essay because from what I had read is that only require the first essay for freshmen?

I just submitted my application. Good luck to all applicants and happy new year!

@wonderlust1 @ExcGunnar y’all selected the “business” option for First Choice Major, correct?

Good luck to everyone!

@wonderlust1 @ExcGunnar @Walker03 Did yall apply with one essay or both essay A and C??

@Donutworry I applied with only Essay A because the Essay is only for a statement of purpose most colleges at TAMU select their transfer by how many hours completed for specific major and GPA and Essay is just read for content.

Thank you so much for the response and clarification!! I wish you good luck @Walker03

No problem! Good luck and hopefully we all become Aggies! Gig’ Em! @Donutworry

@Walker03 yes you only select business and then in your essay you tell them what degree you are seeking.
@Donutworry you only apply with the statement of purpose for transfers. I applied with the statement of purpose and the scholarship essay about leadership. The second would not affect acceptance odds.

I am trying to transfer from a 4-year college with a 3.63 into the college of liberal arts I feel like I should be fine since it isn’t business or engineering. I have lots of EC’s and a good essay.

@all of you! Y’all all look great for transfer. GPAs with 3.5 and higher and required coursework for transfer are typically accepted for most majors except Engineering and Business. When my daughter transferred, they really emphasized writing a great essay to show why you want to transfer and demonstrate passion for your major. They also suggested giving a “nod” to your 2nd choice major in your essay just in case first choice denies you.

@SH2022 you will most definitely be accepted into Psych. I have a great friend who is an advisor for them. We’ve discussed GPAs and yours is really strong, so rest easy.
