Texas A&M Class of 2029 Official Thread

So it’s a BS in business with minors. Same classes a business minors, not the Mays full blown Mays class… i.e. Acct 209 vs 229.

Here are other options…

Among the engineering majors, which one do you think is less competitive in finding jobs. My son wants to get into the aerospace. I know it’s hard to get in, but I heard that the job is limited too. I am so confused. Maybe he should change his major. Pls help me!

I heard aerospace job is very hard to find for Georgia Tech which ranks No. 2 in aerospace.

Thanks. I agree. A son of my friend cannot get a job too then he must join the Airforce.

Your son is entering as General Engineering-not Aerospace-and one of the benefits of that is exposing students to the many concentrations within engineering.
Freshman ENGG majors take a variety of classes, have multiple opportunities to attend Career Fairs, so they have time to decide what area they’d like to (attempt to) pursue before ETAM.

Hi!!
Is TAMU still doing rolling admissions? My kid applied 3 weeks back in CS and still haven’t heard anything. Will they roll out decisions today before the holidays?

3 weeks ago auto admit should hear asap. Holistic… most applied in August and September and haven’t heard back. Usually they do a round in December but I haven’t seen or heard of any holistics hearing back this month. I’m going to assume now, that next round will be in January. Which is typically when holistic admissions happens and then one in February along with alternative pathways and options.

My daughter has been accepted to TAMU, but she’s still waiting to hear from other schools. She’s not ready to accept their offer. In the meantime, do we place a deposit for housing? How do we do it? We don’t see the option on the applicant portal. Thanks.

She needs to pay $75 non-refundable Housing deposit ASAP!! Dorm selection is based on time stamp Housing deposit is paid.
When was she accepted?

What is L.E.A.D Summit? 1/31-2/1
Received an email but the purpose is a little vague. I found something about fraternities in a search online, but I’m not sure that’s the right LEAD…

It’s in howdy portal. Not AIS. Do this assp

OUT OF STATE APPLICANT INFO REQUESTED, LOVE TO HEAR DIFFERENT OPINIONS:

Son applied will be UG Freshman, sent in SRAR without 12th grade grades (not out yet). He will have a 3.5, has 4 Honors and 6 AP’s, employed for 2 years and So many EC’s, class Pres one year, leadership other 3, Heads 2 clubs and also leader of school recruiting team (private Christian school) among being Ambassador for International students at his school among other charitable volunteering. Test Optional.
So, after sending in his SRAR(W/O Senior grades which may bump it up slightly) the TAMU system put him in 2nd quartile (I don’t understand how this works) His school doesn’t rank, but if they did, he would likely be between top 10-15%.

Would anyone have any insight to how this works and what his chances may be with his OOS application ?

When did he apply? What majors?
A&M uses end of junior year grades/gpa, doesn’t factor in senior year.

Senior grade is not required for the ranking. My son only submitted his 9, 10 and 11 grade transcript.

Is the 3.5 weighted or unweighted? Is the private school’s curriculum considered “rigorous,” and is it a well known school for college prep? Just guessing here - a 3.5 GPA, test optional, from a small school that does not rank, that perhaps admissions put him at 2nd quartile due to lack of any info except GPA.
Our OOS public HS does not rank either, and they don’t even do a 4.0 GPA scale (it’s out of 100 points), but my student did submit strong SAT scores. It’s also considered a rigorous curriculum and the school is among the top in our state’s rankings.
