The Big Bang Theory

Sad to see it end but thought the finale was great, as well as the show after. I have watched it from the very beginning when my son’s AP Physics teacher told his class to watch it! I will miss it.

Hands down my favorite show of all time. i joke with my kids that I’m going to write a book titled the world according to The Big Bang Theory because they cover so many of life’s situations with humor and insight.

I’ve been watching, too. They are all on Colbert right now and it’s hard to imagine not seeing any more new episodes after all these years. Such a fun group of people.

Agree! I’m really going to miss it. Have been in since the beginning. We do often watch the reruns which come on after jeopardy but the thought of no new episodes leaves me feeling a bit empty.

I think they did a wonderful job with both Big Bang and Young Sheldon last night.

I love the fact that they didn’t try to bring in every single character we’ve seen over the past 12 years. Instead, they concentrated on what was important: the main characters and their relationships.

And for those who don’t watch Young Sheldon , they ended it last night with Young Sheldon thinking that he was all alone and would never have friends-- -then showed a young version of each of his friends at the moment, with Jim Parsons stating at the end that, luckily, he was wrong.

I still enjoy watching the reruns, even though I’ve seen them several times already. S1 is a PhD physicist and other family members always assume he watches TBBT, but he never got into it. He says his physicist friends are nothing like that and doesn’t appreciate being stereotyped. OTOH, his parents loved the show.

One of my favorite shows of all time - right up there with MAS*H. I would have loved to have seen Amy pregnant at the same time as Penny. I can just see and hear Penny and Leonard talking about having a kid growing up with Sheldon’s and Amy’s kid.

I enjoyed the finale. Wasn’t a surprise that they won the Nobel or that someone was pregnant (though thought it might be Amy rather than Penny). Probably better for show to go out when its still going strong rather than being canceled because ratings have fallen. Avoid the jump-the-shark moment.

Also liked the tie-in with Young Sheldon (particularly with the neutrino/being alone reference then showing younger versions of his future friends). My son could be Sheldon. He was not a huge fan of the show because I think it hit a little too close to home. Will be interesting to see how Young Sheldon does without Big Bang Theory as a lead-in. Young Sheldon was renewed for two more seasons. At some point he goes off to college which likely would mean the show would end in any event.

I enjoyed both shows and was surprised (pleasently so) that they actually showed Howard’s kids!

“Young Sheldon was renewed for two more seasons. At some point he goes off to college which likely would mean the show would end in any event.”

Do we know though where Sheldon went for his undergrad degree? His grandmothers boyfriend is a physics professor at the local college so…

Loved the show, watched every episode from day 1. I also thought it would be Amy announcing being pregnant. I didn’t love the finale, but I certainly teared up a few times. Great cast, tight writing. I’ll miss it. And yes, I will watch reruns.

I haven’t really watched BBT in over a year but I loved the finale. Sheldon’s speech was wonderful.

Presumably somewhere in TX, although, like Penny’s birth surname, it has never been revealed on the show.

Re: seeing Bernadette’s & Howard’s kids, I read that their intention was to never show them because the show runners didn’t want to have to work with kids, but Chuck Lorre decided that since it was the last episode & they’d never have to be seen again, they included them. The show runner was thankful it was the only time they included kids.

^^^^Then I’m guessing Rice.

UT has a pretty decent physics department. He could have studied under Steven Weinberg.

From Quora:

Wasn’t there a whole show this season about his high school library buddy coming to visit and Sheldon was still angry the guy stayed in Texas instead of going to California to be Sheldon’s college roommate?

Yes, there was an episode where Sheldon’s best friend at the time, an Asian male, stayed in TX instead of moving to CA.

The earlier years were the best ones, as the characters evolved/matured it became less fun. I’m a woman chemistry/MD person so it was so refreshing to have a geeky show. It was good to add the STEM female peers and to have the Penny character evolve. The show needed to end however as it had run its course. I wasn’t excited about this final show, but it did tie up all sorts of loose ends so they can’t bring it back. I dislike the premise of Young Sheldon as it somewhat mocks young highly gifted children- a bad message is sent. Ages and stages in our society. STEM now more recognized et al.
