The Closer

WOW. Didn’t see that coming until right before she walked out of the kitchen with that cup of coffee.

The cAre givers are often ignored. Very powerful scene.

I second the WOW and the “powerful scene” … and

SPOILER …

wonder just what Brenda’s mother wanted to talk about with her. I hope her father can fill her in and it’s something innocuous. Otherwise, what a haunting unfinished feeling Brenda will carry forward with her. Though she probably will anyway. Brenda has uttered that same “We’ll talk later” hurried leave-taking to her parents and Fritz a number of times; it turned around and bit her. I really can see Brenda relocating to Atlanta to be closer to her Dad now. Before it seemed more of a stretch.

Not too much has been said about the leak in the department. I thought it to be Pope but now … I’m less sure. I have a problem in that I don’t want anyone else in the department to have worked behind Brenda’s back … not Tao, Flynn, Provenza, Sanchez, Gabriel (a maybe, but I won’t like it), Buzz (a farfetched maybe) or even Taylor. Think I’ll stick with Pope just because …

I didn’t see that coming, either!

Very powerful episode. Until tonight, I had been a little disappointed with this season’s stories, but I thought this one was good, and not just because of the ending.

^^^

I agree … good show.

From James Duff - executive producer, creator, writer of The Closer:

[James Duff: ‘Last Rites’](<a href=“HuffPost - Breaking News, U.S. and World News | HuffPost”>'Last Rites' | HuffPost Entertainment)

That was certainly unexpected. I can see now how Brenda’s guilt over blowing off her mother to deal with work, and never knowing what her mother wanted to tell her, will get her to re-evaluate her priorities.

During show she cut mom off, at diner table it was all about dad, everyone ignoring mom thinking she was okay.

SPOILER ALERT:

So all is finally revealed…

Surprised? I think a lot of people suspected David was the leak…I even wondered about the girlfriend myself, then dismissed it. I certainly didn’t imagine the sick scenario that the other lawyer (Peter Goldman) had set up in order to win his case. They mentioned in the meeting that no laws had been broken, but I wonder about ethics? Could a lawyer be disbarred for something like that, or is this kind of thing just considered fair game?

Anyway, looking forward to the finale. :)

SPOILER ALERT CONTINUED!

I thought the revelation of the leak was very well done - I had assumed it was David (mainly because he won’t be on “Major Crimes,” right?) but I was surpised at the way it was done. Pleasantly surprised at that. I thought the whole exchange with David and the other detectives (“I forgive you”) was well-done, although I noticed that Sanchez was the only one who didn’t chime in.

I am going to miss this show more than I thought I would!

SPOILER ALERT continued:

I agree. Well-done.

I can accept that Gabriel unknowingly leaked the information. He had doubts about some of the actions taken over the years. but I couldn’t see him betraying Brenda and others to Goldman with intent and malice.

It also tied nicely into Brenda not taking the time to listen to others and, for the first time, acknowledging what she did.

Not only did Sanchez not accept David’s apology verbally, but he turned his back on him and never looked at him again. I think Sanchez felt all along that Gabriel leaked the information … and he won’t forgive him.

Flynn hit the nail on the head when he said apology accepted, now apply for a transfer.

My heart ached for Gabriel though … and Brenda … and Captains Raydor and Taylor. I think most like Gabriel and took no pleasure in watching his life collapse around him.

I was glad that the leak was inadvertent on Gabriel’s part. I hated to think there was someone in major crimes who would betray the team.

S1 called last night 15 minutes before the show started. DH made sure that the conversation ended just as the show was beginning. There was no way he was going to miss the episode.

Really enjoyed this episode, I will miss this show, excellent writing with good story lines–the leak was a surprize, but believeable.

I, too, was glad it was inadvertent.

I enjoyed it! So is there only one more episode? Somehow we have to get rid of Brenda (while leaving Fritz) and Gabriel will decide that he should move on after all I guess.

I’m looking forward to the new show.

This thread inspired me to start watching The Closer again. ( we don’t have cable, but I own lots of episodes) I’ve watched this season, (except for the last)now I am starting over from the beginning.:)

Such a great ensemble cast.

Then I will watch Singles.
[Although Kyras storyline isn’t my favorite](<a href=“Pajiba - Sweetened by Mock, Lightened by Droll”>Mindhole Blowers: Cameron Crowe's SINGLES Inspired NBC's Friends and 14 Other Facts About the Movie that Might Explode Your Head)

^^^ Yeah, I plan to start The Closer over again from episode 1.

I saw Singles only once … years ago … and still remember scenes from it. I planned to watch it again earlier this year but life keeps interfering with my free time. Still hope to get to it.

Any bets on what is going to cause Brenda Leigh to quit her job and possibly move away? Sgt. Gabrielle as well?

Well, she could just quit her job and not move away. Maybe time for that family that was under discussion for so long…

^^^^Yes, that would be nice; if Brenda finally got pregnant, and due to her age and stressful job, was required to stay home and take it easy, it wouldn’t be a “sad” ending.

I’m not so sure I think that’s how it’s going to go…

I thought it was a good ending. The new show didn’t really keep my attention, but maybe I’ll give it another try.
