I liked the ending…satisfying, no bad endings for any of the characters we’d come to enjoy. Still, I had tears in my eyes, poor hormonal sap that I am.

Well, that’s the understatement of the century! It was like spending an hour watching someone do paperwork.

Hmmm…I liked it, but maybe because I’ve limited myself to food network for the last two years.

I couldn’t believe that the new show ended with the plea bargain…I was surprised when the credits started rolling. What an anticlimax! (especially when The Closer usually ends with a confession). If that is going to be the way each show ends, I don’t see the new show lasting long. It wasn’t a satisfying ending.

Well, perhaps it was more interesting than watching someone boil water . . . but if there was actual food involved, I’d stick with the Food Network!

Yes, think of it . . . first, Perry Mason popularized the concept of having a TV drama focus on a trial. Then, the Closer pioneered the idea of having a TV show focus on a confession. And, now, we have Major Crimes . . . which focuses on a bunch of grumbling people sitting around a table hammering out the terms of a plea agreement! Oh, be still my heart . . . !!!

Honestly, love the characters, hated the show.

Satisfied with the last episode of The Closer.

I don’t know if the powers-that-be did Major Crimes any favors by having the first episode immediately follow The Closer. I missed Brenda …

I didn’t dislike Major Crimes. It started much like The Closer did years ago. Brenda earned the respect of the others: now Captain Raydor needs to do the same.

I think a week between shows would have helped - comparisons too immediate and bound to fall short.

Didn’t think the ending hit the emotional high I wanted- I loved the mom. (Loved her in the old show, Sisters, too.) Since her last episode ended so startlingly, it felt off that the next one was so back-to-business. (Did I miss something?) Then last night- leaving becase of another mistake left me hanging- I can’t see feisty Brenda working for the DA, in a mostly admin job. I was guessing she’d realize the value of family and leave to be with Dad for a while. What I did like was that Gabriel got his spotlight moment in the prior one and the rest of the team each got a few moments to shine, last night.

Agree Major Crimes has some growing to do. All those close-ups of Raydor, where we’re supposed to guess what she’s thinking and feeling -?

I fell asleep during Major Crimes - does that say something? DH watched all of it, but I’m not sure how he felt about it. He’ll usually give a new show 2 episodes to see if he likes it.

It was interesting that it took a teenage hustler to help Brenda see the perversity of her life.

I am new to The Closer–just started watching last year. I’m sad that the series has ended, and I’m a newbie! Those last few episodes about her mother–WOW. They felt so deep and so emotional. I think that’s why I felt a little disappointed last night. I was on the edge of my seat during the entire show, and then it seemed like it was wrapped up so quickly after they decided to plant the evidence in the hat.

I taped the new show last night, but haven’t watched it. My mom has been a fan of the show since it began and she mentioned to me on Sunday that she thought it was a mistake to start the new show immediately after the finale. She thought the show should be given a little more “respect.” I told her they were trying to capture the audience right away, but it sounds like that may have backfired. Too many comparisons. Give people time to miss the old cast.

I haven’t watched the last episode, but have been rewatching the first season.
Great writing right out of the gate. Lots of humor too, I just viewed ( The Butler Did It) it had so much scenery chewing, Jack Nicholson would have been at home.
I can’t wait till the episodes with Amy Sedaris.

I guess this thread should now be renamed Major Crimes.

I like the show. It took me a bit to settle into its rhythm (and quit expecting to see Brenda turn up) but I have to say I’m there now.

Fritz makes a guest appearance next week. I wonder if that will make me miss Brenda again.

Is that the one where Provenza is handling the case until Brenda gets there, and he is imitating her accent to the amusement of the other members of the team, only to find that she has arrived and is watching his performance? I loved that one.

It’s growing on me too.

And my husband was passing through the room and pointed out that Provenza was Sgt Rizzo in MAS*H. I had never made that connection and have watched the show for years! No wonder I always liked him :-).

Major Crimes is growing on us…I had to adjust to the differences, but so far I like the story lines and the charactor development.

Haven’t seen Major Crimes yet, rewatching season four- where Brenda is choosing wedding cakes. Barry Corbin has great lines. " if it was up to Brenda she would have the minister stop by a crime scene and hand out Ho-Hos from her purse!"
;)

I would not have picked up that Provenza was Rizzo in MASH!

Of course!

& Barry Corbin was Maurice Minnifeld in Northern Exposure.( with hair)

I would never have put it together that he was Rizzo, but now that I know, it was just so obvious.
