Indians at DC for study abroad?

is anyone asking for FA on this group?

how was the SAT scores people?

I’m probably (definitely, but let’s not be cynical) not gonna make it, but MIT’s application is a wonderful experience. I’m one of those people with high aspirations, a logical mind and sometimes out-of-place (or out-of-the-box) ideas, a knack for learning anything and everything - but no significant ECs still, and most of my answers to the questions are little things in life that I love. It doesn’t feel wrong for once. On the contrary, it makes me feel more appreciative of the little things in life, like playing Pokemon competitively (and I’ve seriously written about it), and not lose my mind on making it ‘big’.

By the way, I got 800 on both Maths Level 2 and Physics, and 2110 on SAT (messed up Writing, as usual 800 in Maths)

A quick question: can reading (novels, books) be listed as an extracurricular? No, not reading as a hobby, but reading which played an enormous role in your life. And not sporadic; regular, for example for three years, almost everyday. If not, then why?

I got 2250 in SAT 1, 800 in MATH 2, and 780 in Physics…

oh and HIII; sorry I’m late :P

@EminemFan: is this for the MIT or commonapp? for the MIT application I made a category called Literary Activities…which gave me a lot of scope, if you get what I mean :)

Commonapp. For MIT, I’m listing it in the Summer activities section.

Hey, anyone on? I could use some last-minute assistance.

Nailed my Princeton interview.
He was graduate of '10, so it was easy to get connected.
Best luck everyone.

U think MIT will give me extra time, if there was a genuine error on their part in the application, in which their assistance did NOT really help?

ah. how are you holding, people?
is has been a stressful and depressing last few months :3

^ Same here.

@quiverfox: Never heard of such a thing, drop them an email ?

PS: If anyone gets into Stanford, PM me !

Who here has written nothing in MIT’s additional essay?

Hello everyone. You guys should consider applying to Washington University in St louis! ( WUSTL or Wash U). it’s a top notch private university that’s off the radar for most indian students. Washu is ranked No 1 for premed and it’s Med school is ranked No. 3 in nation.
It’s highly respected in the USA and is pretty selective as well ( 15.4 % acceptance '16). Wash U has consistently been ranked in the top 3 in the USA for quality of life, dorms and food. Average Sat score are 2100-2280. Wash U is on the common app and requires NO additional essay. The deadline is jan 15th so you guys still have time. They’re not need blind to internationals but they offer very generous Financial Aid Packages to many to Indian students. It’s a great university and you guys should definitely apply!

@EminemFan: I didn’t have space on my common app to list reading, even though it’s been a significant part of my life. but i guess its okay to list it. you could also let your essays reflect that.
Btw, what’s your first choice for college?

heloooh-

@keya93 - lol MIT. I have applied at only three unis though - MIT, Cornell and UChicago (just so I can write their essay). I don’t know how much of a chance I’ve got, probably nil, but didn’t want to apply at more than 4. I have way too much safeties in India (and Singapore, if I can grab a 95% in the boards)
