The Lawrenceville School

There’s like ten different religions offered, so I’d probably just go to the ones I don’t know about.

Buddhism is super cool though, as is Hindu.

I’d get confused in Hindu. Too many deities for me to keep track of. :)

well @mrnephew‌ , it is actually very simple. Hindu’s believe in one god who can manifest in many different ways or forms of the same god. This god exists in everything tangible and in-tangible and can be present in many different forms at once. Thus, it appears that Hindu’s worship many gods but in reality we all worship the same god who takes on multiple forms.

Oh, I didn’t know that. I thought it was hundreds of different ones.

In fact, that’s still confusing too, albeit less. :)

I’m probably going to do what @greyeyedgoddess‌ said and just go to the ones I don’t know to much about @mrnephew‌

Whoa. That’s really interesting. I did not know that.

Who else is pumped to get course selection sheets? I’m just excited because my school has awful electives, so maybe I can finally take something INTERESTING.

Yeah, I know. I can’t wait until senior year where we basically choose whatever we want to do.

I’m still stoked for the selection sheets, though.

@greyeyedgoddess‌ Did you get yours already? I think on the checklist thing it said after 4/15?

That’s what it said, I think.

@squashisawesome I haven’t got it yet, no. I don’t even have the email @mrnephew‌ said he got.

My parents got it, but I didn’t. I don’t think it’s a cause for concern, though. It was a really basic email.

Oh, and I forgot to mention in the OP, if you have three or more big assignments due the same day, like a biology test, a math test, and an English paper, you can choose to postpone one of them until a later date. Unless it’s like finals, obviously.

I really liked that aspect, it reduces the level of stress.

I’m not too concerned lol.

I kinda wonder if the three big assignments rule isn’t just a written rule, though. Like they have basically the same rule at my school, but no one remembers that it exists.

Needless to say, I hope that they do enforce it.

Oh, they do. My guide told me that the teachers “must” comply with it. So, that’s fun, as well as the prospect that we get to choose which one to postpone. :)

That’s so wonderful though. I also heard that if you spend 55 minutes on homework for one class and still aren’t done, you can just email your teacher and they’ll be fine with it.

The flexibility aspect is just so awesome. In revisit, teachers were discussing when they wanted to make an assignment due with the students, asking what they had going on that week, and such.

Exactly.

Are either of you (@mrnephew or @squashisawesome‌) doing a summer program at Lawrenceville? My mom wants me to do one but I don’t think I really want to spend some of my summer there since I’m going to spending the whole year there, you know?

You mean Rising Scholars? I was considering it, but the conclusion I came to was pretty much the one you expressed.

I have a LOT to do this summer, too, so I don’t think I’d be able to anyway.

No, it’s a debate program that’s like two weeks long. I’m scrambling to figure out summer plans, and it came up, but chances are I’ll end up just devoting my summer to volunteer work.

What are you up to?

Debate program? Hmm that made more interested. My guide was talking to me about rising scholars, the program where new students go camping or something and bond that way, and then live on campus for a couple weeks to get the feeling of it. That debate program sounds like something that I’d do, though.
