The Legend of Korra

cry This show is the best <3

ATLA was better :(

This makes TLA look like crap <33333333

Wait, is that show like the “after story” to avatar the airbender?

Personally, I really do not what to think of this finale. Well, I would have preferred if she lost her powers and then the second season went from that. Or something along the lines. It just felt too rushed… (Plus I am sorry I cannot stand the romance in this show at all, which is unusual for me) Ah well, at least, Iroh and Bumi were lots of fun. I just don’t know, I liked some parts, but disliked others ah well. Next season, new antagonist, lets see where that will go.

Overall I thought it was a great finale. I wish they would have left a major issue unresolved for next season, though.

I felt it was very rushed, especially the romance and everything crammed in the last two minutes, but that’s my only complaint, really. The rest was genius. :D

OH MY GOD THAT SEASON FINALE!! Ajdhjdjdjbhhshysbsbd kyrdbgh gfshiuut. I almost exploded. Most of the like MONUMENTAL stuff happened in the last five minutes.

I loved the season finale. I agree that an unresolved issue would have made it more interesting. I was just telling my sister it would have been a perfect series finale because the ending was so neat lol. I’m disappointed that I did not see more of Tenzen’s brother though lol.

More than “just a cartoon.” It’s really been the only TV series I’ve followed closely since Avatar the Last Airbender. Saturdays are just not going to be the same until season 2.

I hope season 2 isn’t as rushed as season 1. I miss “filler” episodes from the original series. Often times episodes that appeared to be fillers in Avatar the Last Airbender introduced places and characters that would be important later on, giving the fictional world a richer feel as long as there aren’t too many of them.

It takes them on average 10 months per episode (and I think that’s just animation). They just finished the writing for season 2, so we could easily be waiting 6-8 months or so until season 2 starts and that’s assuming that they’ve already been working on the animation for earlier parts of season 2. Of course, they make multiple episodes at once.

I don’t know, I think I just miss the characters from ATLA. Don’t get me wrong, I think Legend of Korra is good, but the characters seem just a tiny bit less original. ATLA just felt deeper.

The following post may contain spoilers.

Legend of Korra did a great job of making the villains original. Tarlokk and Nautaaq (Amon’s real name spelled with authentic Inuit transliteration) definitely ended up being great characters with their own internal conflicts. It was also cool how they sort of weaved a criminal element with the gangs (Bolin being lured back to the triple threat triad at one point) and Yakone’s power. Hiroshi Sato is somewhat less developed but he seems to embody the United Republic dream (analogous to the American dream) of a non-bender working his way up. Unfortunately we also discover he’s a vengeful person who misuses his talents.

Despite this, they somehow left the “good” characters under-developed. Mako just seems like a broody introvert teenage stereotype, Bolin’s simply a goofball, and I didn’t like Asami and Korra for most of the series. But at least those two had a bit more substance to them.
Tenzin and his family, on the other hand, are great characters and they’re impossible not to love.

DAT BOAT SCENE, holy lord <3

I was surprised they could even do that on a kids show. I think it’s the first time I’ve seen suicide (let alone a murder-suicide) on a kids action show and the first time I’ve seen murder-suicide on any action show or movie for that matter. It’s extra unusual since it wasn’t a crime that set the mood of the story in the beginning but a desperate action at the very end. It’s the kind of thing that seems very rare in TV and movies, and it’s reminiscent of the Japanese warrior ideal of dying with honor by committing suicide.

Tarlokk pretty much redeemed his image to the show’s audience by the end of the series. He seemed to be good all along and yet deeply troubled and misguided once his back story was revealed.

I will admit it, it was a kinda rushed ending, but at the same time it was pretty awesome. I am angry though that they are making a 2nd season! It is going to suck! It took them more than a year to do this one season now they have months to do another. Yeah I don’t think it will turn out good.

When I saw this thread, I got so excited!

The season finale was awesome! That story with Tarlock? Creepiest thing ever though Tarlock is like my hero now. He’s kind of like Snape in a way. Can’t wait for season two!

At first I thought the show was a bit slow especially the first couple episodes, but then the action seriously picked up. Compared to The Last Airbender, I can’t say that either show is necessarily better. I loved the original since the characters developed so nicely, but I also like how Korra is more compact and the themes are very serious.

AWESOME SHOW!!!

It’s just a cartoon, they said… It’s just a kids show, they said… It can’t include any themes that are too dark, they said…

That time slot on Nick will be the death of that show though. I think I speak for a lot when I say that show is way too intense and dark for Saturday mornings at 11.

^that’s exactly why I haven’t been able to watch it that much. Saturday at 11 is really bad timing

Well this series is supposed to be a little darker and more intense/mature than the original.
Oh and you can also watch it online if Saturdays at 11 are bad. (which you should…since this show is awesome).
Anyone else thinks korra is too rash, though?
