The official Pakistani Thread for the class of 2013

they are admitting 200 for SSE this year…or so says their website…and how was the test people?

No, they’ll admit more. Their website hasn’t been updated, I feel. So more hope for all of us!

Game, how did your test go?

Good  Yours? The percentile, I reckon, is going to be the real turning factor.

Guess what…? Pakistani cricket is gone. GONE, I say! :frowning: :(

Never thought the CIA could get a drone base and train terrorists on Pakistan’s soil. But, then again, I never thought Mr 110% could our president, either. How times change.

My policy - Just get out of this country in 2009! :(

Can’t run away from your problems - you have to face them. Better now than later. Our country is in this sad state in the first place because the educated class goes abroad and stays abroad. Call it justified selfishness, but look at where this is leading your homeland. If all Pakistanis living abroad come to Pakistan amid some self-sacrifice, we can easily overtake India, China and Brazil in economic growth. But no - they’ll just send remittances. And allow the fanatics to take charge. Now that’s a good one.

A case in point: The difference b/w our GNP and GDP. What a laughing stock.

Hey guys I got accepted to the University of Rochester…well sort of.
They say that they will accept me and that I am elligible for a $10000 scholarship; provided that I can pay the remainder of the cost. The total estimated cost for next year is $54280! Now all I need is to get them proof that I can afford that :stuck_out_tongue:
Oh well its my back-up so hopefully I’ll get in somewhere better. If not I’m in for some expensive education. Thats the problem with Rochester they only give internationals a maximum of $12000 scholarship.

Oh and Game I completely agree with you on your previous post.

WOOHOO! nice man, awesome!

Congrats greenboy! We have 3 acceptances now

McGill, Gettysburg, and Rochester!

hey guys, just found this thread and happy it happened…

2100 SAT 1, SAT 2 Physics 710, SAT 2 Bio 700…

O Levels 8 As
AS Level AAABC (including GP)

I have a BBB offer from Edinburgh and am waiting on LSE…

applied to 8 in the states. all VERY highly ranked so i dont even think ill be able to get in one of em…

my question is: I have a pretty horrible transcript (our school sends class midyear and final marks and term marks along with CIE grades)…so will colleges pay more attention to CIE or school results? I have pretty horrible school results u know…

School results will be considered more. After all, you can be sure that your VERY highly ranked unis are acquainted to some extent to the terrific tuition culture of Pakistan :)

I don’t think it should be problem! Its just the school transcripts, right? Think about it, we don’t follow the U.S. Education System and our method of teaching is completely different from what they practice.

So, looking at it from their point of view, our high schools appear to be complete separate institutional bodies with different scales of assessing students, to them. What I’m trying to say is each school here has a different scheme that its administrative body follows, and that scheme isn’t universally/internationally recognized, right? Whereas, the CIE, GCE, College Board and all that are internationally recognized testing services.

Therefore, in my opinion, messed up high school transcripts aren’t that big an issue, as compared to messed up CIE or SAT results!

All the best… :)

haha! yeah well i doubt the leading research institutions in the world can spare the time to check on how popular coaching classes are in a country that doesn’t really send a relatively large number of undergrads abroad…just a hunch.

Agree with talha.
Game surely u were kidding

Thanks talha. That gives me a bit of hope.

Though i still feel like an ass applying to Stanford :P

Where’re u all applying?

Lets just wait Ali, its only a month till the decisions are out! I’d prefer telling then. :D
