Trash TV - The Bachelor/The Bachelorette/Bachelor in Paradise

I don’t know if it is the editing, but I don’t see Maria as a villain. Initially, I thought it was just Sydney making much ado about nothing. When Lea and Jess got involved, I realized that maybe Sydney was the spokesperson for their clique. I find Lea annoying and artificial.

I think Joey is trying to tell the other girls to back off. He has given Maria two date roses which should indicate that he is interested in her.

Through the years, more and more women have had some sort of traumatic life experience that they need to confess to the lead. Did Rachel really need to confess that she is a nurse and that a potential spouse might be concerned about marrying a nurse? The producers must feel that it makes good television.

I can see Maria and Sydney both appearing on BIP although I wouldn’t be surprised if they cast Maria as the next lead. Maria has a Kaitlyn Bristow type of personality. She’s up front and bold. She’s definitely different than recent Bachelorettes and she seems to have fan support.

There must be a lot they are not showing us to have Maria be so hated?? Or it’s just her strong personality that is intimidating to the others. Sydney was awful - so glad she got the boot.

And/or the producers told her to go and interrupt

I don’t think Maria seems like “a girl’s girl” like a lot of the other girls are. All clique oriented and “typical bachelorette” people while Maria is sort of an outcast, beats to her own drum. She isn’t all made up with make up like the other girls often are, apparently came without a curling iron (lol, what a dumb comment Leah) - so maybe she just doesn’t fit in as well.

But I think Joey enjoys that she is different, a little fiesty and keeps one on their toes.

That’s what I am wondering. They could have easily have given Maria a villain edit, but they didn’t. Instead, they pointed the finger at Sydney. Maria speaks well to the camera and is often used as a narrator. Initially, I thought maybe Rachel or Jess might be the narrator. While Rachel comes across as very comfortable and confident, Jess isn’t as articulate.

While it would be fun, I don’t think the producers would make Maria the Bachelorette for the same reasons that she doesn’t seem to fit as well with the other ladies, I’m guessing it would be hard for the majority to rally around her if they made that choice. But I do appreciate her for being her own person, she’s refreshing. Would also be fun to watch her in BIP although I rarely tune in.

I’m most curious about Lexi, he seems to be into her, but she seems super guarded - my guess is she will make it most of the way - but I wonder if she’s really into him? I guess we’ll find out.

Also, fwiw, I really like Jenn, but I don’t think she will go much further. She’s super adorable and has a positive personality. I’d vote for her for the next Bachelorette!

I think we can assume BIP is toast.

Well ok then!

Since I rarely watched I don’t care, but was it the drugs? the violence? the 911 calls?

*(not sure any or all of those happened, just hypothesizing that when you sequester a bunch of young folks in an isolated area and add in boredom, gossip, alcohol and hormones bad things are bound to happen)

My money’s on the ratings.

Plus they have the bright shiny penny that is The Golden Bachelor/Bachelorette.

They have indicated (said) there won’t be a BIP in 2024. My guess is they will do a revamp and try to tweak it like they are doing with the main franchise and then bring it back .

If not, what will Wells do?! :woman_shrugging:t2:

The longer the season goes on, the more I feel for this kid (Joey). I appreciated that he owns up to not being the outgoing, always cheerful guy. He seems like a genuinely nice kid.

I was surprised by the 2 eliminated before the rose ceremony. Not even a bit surprised by those eliminated at the ceremony - and cheered when one was sent home. So full of herself. Bye!

Still liking Maria, she’s playful & open.

Joey isn’t going to find a wife on this show - he would better of on his own - he is way too normal and nice!!

I wondered if they lost some of the luggage on the way to Canada. The women were all color coordinated in solid blacks, beige and browns except for Rachel who was wearing a very colorful shirt. At the evening event, the women were in gowns and Joey walked in wearing jeans. Was it Kaitlyn who said she was wearing Lexi’s dress?

I think the date elimination of Jess was for production. They always have at least one person go home in the middle of a date. I think it was decided in advance which woman he would send home. I wish it had been Lea.

Yes! I want answers! Why was someone wearing someone else’s dress? Very odd.

I dozed through most of the episode, but was pretty shocked to see Lea immediately turn and hug Maria upon her exit! WTH??? Didn’t Lea just spend last week’s episode hating on Maria?? Much ado about nothing? Ugh…editing…

I think they were walking arm in arm at one point. Granted, all of that is for production/filming. How many women walk down the street holding hands with each other?

Lol I was noticing how tiny the women’s suitcases were - no way do they have all their gowns and long pea coats in those mini suitcases! Interesting thought about lost luggage.

I was sad tonight because two of my favs , Lexi and Katelyn left. I thought Katelyns personality was so interesting.

I don’t care for either Kelsey - they don’t feel genuine to be. I feel like the season sort of fell apart for me tonight…. Who could be his woman?

Love Rachel but don’t think it’s her. Don’t think he will end up with Maria either. Jenn is a good bet - Daisy may not be ready at the end.

Question for @skieurope the reality expert…do the contestants who exit to to like a Ponderosa ( a la Survivor) or do they just leave. Wouldn’t it be obvious if they just sent home that they didn’t make it??

They stay overnight in a hotel and return home the next day.

Particularly once they go internationally, the spies report who is in, in this example, Montreal. So it is pretty easy to fit the pieces together to figure who isn’t there, so no need for the expense of sequestering

I liked Lexi too and was sorry she left. I feel like we never got to know Katelyn, we just keep seeing snippets of their personalities, nothing really fleshed out. I appreciate that the preview showed Daisy saying she wasn’t going to say something just to get a rose. Also, I’m adding Montreal to my bucket list - how lovely!
